Well, she didn't get much screentime. I don't know if it was on purpose by MNet, but maybe she just didn't speak a lot. I mean, maybe she didn't even went to have those one on one interviews with the cameraman. I liked her, but she seemed super shy, and it's quite hard to show anything about her if she never speaks and didn't even try to get a nice position for the performance, and also didn't get a lot of on-site votes...they can't show her specifically if she's mostly silent, it doesn't make up for good TV!

Hi, it's the very late viewer again🤣 Rewatching this has made me realize how much my original opinions of the IZ*ONE members have changed since 1st being introduced to them in PD48. And it's funny because you are the exact opposite of me, you know them all and love them already. For me, I grew to love a few during PD48, but didn't really get to fall for their charms until after IZ*ONE was formed! Another huuggee change for me was I couldn't really handle cutesy, nasally and high pitched voices before PD48 & IZ*ONE, but thanks to the Japanese idols (mostly Sakura, Hitomi and Nako) now I'm super used to it and love it LOL

Hi Kaia, I'm really enjoying your PD48 reactions! It's hard not to get invested in the show when you see all the tears and effort put in by the girls. Idk if you noticed, but in this episode they showed how JP trainees would sometimes have schedules in Japan. The JP trainees were still actively working while participating in the show, so sometimes they had less practice time than KR trainees because of travel and work. This was double the case for popular members of sister groups like Sakura, Nako, and Miru because they had schedules for the main group AKB and their original branch group HKT/NMB. It grew pretty concerning as the show progressed because sometimes they were too sick to appear at the events, but when they went back to Korea they had to catch up on what they missed and perform at the same level as everyone else.

Oh I agree. I meant it more that you could infer which trainees the PD thought had potential/wanted to keep in the show since the show would be edited in a way that would manifest their desired result without direct manipulation. While the show was airing, there was this Gift Garden that international fans could participate in to give trainees gifts from sponsors. Votes skewed towards Japanese trainees, but you could still estimate trainee popularity through it. Of course it's possible that the Gift Garden was fixed as well, but I'm doubtful they would've let Sakura be the only trainee to complete the garden if that were the case. Anyway, all the finale members had at least decent support in the Gift Garden, so I think the PD did a decent job of making their picks appealing audience picks if they weren't popular already.

They did her a disservice comparing her to Sunmi. No way her personality could match up closely to one of the most famously odd idols. Sunmi is off the charts quirky. Getting compared to her just isn't fair on a popularity contest show. The same with Kim Doah being compared to I.O.I.'s Sohye.

It's also lucky she paired up with weakish other contestants. Every time they have a powerhouse unit all the votes are going to be split meaning nobody gets a lot. A star should really pick unpopular but good members if they want to absolutely maximize their vote total. Good members mean the overall performance does well and there's a buzz but unpopular so you can take all the votes.

I think they honestly weren't sure which direction they wanted to go. If they wanted a more mature group some of the early focus on Kaeun, Juri, Miyu, Miru, and Haeyoon made sense. I think once they decided the core, they decided they couldn't have multiple members in their 20s and members as young as Wonyoung. They had to more closely match the final members. Eunbi being the exception except she was seen as the leader of her young trainees at Woolim and thus fit the final group as the leader. That skill set specifically made her different than her other similarly aged competitors.

kind of disagree with some of the assessments of the votes. Hyewon's popularity went WAY up as the innocent rapper from hell. Boombayah team 2 had one of the most watched performances (for meme material, but that was their charm). She was the little rapper that could. People tend to give "talent" as the measurement which people base their votes, but it really is popularity. So Minju (already a top visual) was going to rank at the end especially since they gave her the "story". you could tell from the editing who they wanted in the group, which was why there was the whole WaSuPle thing where viewers thought they were giving too much screentime to Yuehua, Starship, and Pledis trainees. they only had to "fix" the votes at the end because prior to that, they could still "pick" the trainees they wanted through editing. kind of spoilerish, but it becomes obvious in later episodes where certain trainees don't even have speaking lines. plus there's mnet's infamous evil edits vs trainees who get a "storyline" late in the show.

I always forget how good this show was! Can't wait till next weeks episode!!!

The voting scandal was really only the final stage (more or less). Mnet could skew enough to carry who they wanted each week just from the clips they showed and the editing. The bottom 50 girls were always going to eventually be cut. An episode here or there didn't change much. I think they narrowed in on a "real contender" group of 30 from day 1 and highlighted them each episode. I don't think they knew yet who they wanted in their final group because a lot of it depends on the other members. When they decided Wonyoung and Yujin were good enough to be in the group they had to go for a more innocent group to match. Sakura was always going to be in so they then built it around those 3. Hitomi and Nako were the cutest non-Sakura Japanese contenders and thus jumped into the final 12. Eunbi worked as a leader for that group (whereas an older group wouldn't have needed her). Yena really meshed with Wonyoung and Yujin especially the final episodes. Minju, Chaewon, and Hyewon all fit in as young cute members too. I think the company's at the center of the issue mostly got their already relatively popular members into the final 12. I think it was most blatant for Yuri who was always outside the top 12 by a bit and somehow jumped very popular people to a high rank, Chaewon who came out of nowhere at the end and was bland at the beginning of the show (to be fair she was only 17 and I really enjoy her now being in IZone), Minju who was really exposed the final couple of votes as a mediocre talent (compared to the final 30), and Hyewon who somehow went from the 40s to top 5 for 3 votes in a row which to me is the most blatant early tipping of the scales and the only really crazy non-final 12 voting.

Also ill never understand how Hwang Soyeon (Sunmi look a like) didnt make it further, she honestly had it all, the talent, she was class A and mantained it after the reavaluation and she had the looks as well. These shows can be so badly judged by people at home

The girl you said had a nice voice in Pick a boo is AleXa, shes a soloist now and ranked only 82nd unfortunatly, you could see the pain in her eyes at some points cause she performed with a injured ankle, Produce called her company, had her sent to the hospital and then called her back cause they needed her for the performance so she had to performe injured

Always love watching your PD48 reactions. I feel like once you start watching a Produce show it's impossible not to get invested. Also a little fun fact: Nako's amount of votes for the group battle evaluation is the highest out of all Produce seasons.

I admit I'm slightly biased towards RBW artists but I was always disappointed at how little screen time Park Jieun got. I also still think she was the best in the #1 Mamma Mia performance along with Murase Sae so her getting the least points in her group was a bit meh to me..

I was waiting for this!!! Loved your reaction! I'm excited for the next one! As for the Boombayah teams, it's really obvious that group 1 should have win, performance-wise. But Hyewon's team has a lot of japanese members. Japanese trainees in this show already has a fan base prior to the show so logically, Hyewon's team won. Also, this is my POV when watching the show back then. I know that group 1 will nail the song but I wasn't really rooting for them because they purposely chose to go against the weakest team in their opinion, which is Hyewon's team. I was more sympathetic with the other team. LASTLY, for the r*gging scandal, I read in a news article that only the voting for the final 12 from the top 20 members was manipulated. The rest of the show was untouched. Whoo that went long :)))) Thank you for reacting to PD48 and any IZ*ONE related contents! I really love watching you getting to know IZ*ONE more and more. The biggest thing that got me hooked to them is their chemistry. It's just top-notch.

watched it love your reaction, in team very very very group 2 i think if minju accepted that center position they have a chance to win she fits the image of the song together with sakura she fits it too if the center doesn’t has to rap but minju was not confident at that time. It’s so nice to see where she is right now she’s so center material like we can see that when she was the center of buenos aires and other tracks like ayayaya my baby got her confidence and become deadly.
