Greetings adventurers!

There are those that are never satisfied with what they have on hand currently and I think that sort of inventive spirit should be encouraged. Some particularly studious dwarves noticed the way that molten rock can cut channels through solid stone and saw within it an opportunity. They began capturing the daystar’s radiant energies in magically attuned crystals found in the depths below until they reached a critical point of stored energies. They were amazed to find that the crystals could even modify your vision for a short time, but I’m worried how the testing methods went for that.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

Kicking off a new year doesn’t mean we’re going to change what we’re about. In fact if 2024 has taught me anything it’s that I need to double down on my creative sensibilities and stop worrying about creating things for mass audience. If I just wanted to make things that are popular, then we’d just release different swords every week for the entirety of the year because for some reason, swords are just what everyone loves! It makes sense, I like swords too. That said, I’m going to be leaning into our more inventive ideas this year and not worrying so much about making sure we have a solid base of core items. At this point, I think people know us for being a little offbeat in our design and I’m all for leaning into that.

In the 5E version as well as the PF2E version, I had a pretty strong sense of what I wanted in this item to start with. First and foremost, I wanted to give some sort of truesight. I think that there’s a limited amount of access to that across both systems as it is understandably a powerful mechanic. I thought giving the chance for everyone to have some form of it possible available that takes pressure off of caster spell slots could be a rather entertaining way to make something have a unique function.

I didn’t know what else it would be besides truesight until Fernando did a sketch that really leaned into the classic X-Men vibes of Cyclops and I knew that that would be a wonderful second part to round out the piece. On the 5E side, I just had to do some charge balancing to offer meaningful choices, while on the PF2E side, it was just about finding the right frequency to make it work. Gotta say I’m really happy with how it came out!

We’re still here and still creating in 2025 thanks to the support of amazing patrons like you. I don’t think we ever imagined that this would be a thing that we could actually do for this long. I certainly expected this to be a fun experiment for awhile, but this “experiment” has now turned into a full fledged little business and I couldn’t be more proud of it. Thank you all for believing in us for this long!

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
