Shining Song Starnova 'Steam Patreon Release' Updates
Added 2018-08-02 19:06:50 +0000 UTCThis is somewhat late set of updates due to the fact that I (Nemjen) have been on holiday for the last couple of days and this was information I found out at a motorway service station, so apologies from myself that it has has taken a while to trickle down.
Sadly no additional progress has been made with Valve at this time for getting the game on Steam however hopefully this serves as confirmation that your Steam versions are still current, as well as letting those of you waiting for Linux/Mac versions of the game that they can now be downloaded. For those who have been holding off, we hope you enjoy the game.
The Steam build has been updated to 1.00
The build uploaded on Steam is now updated to 1.00 featuring all the fixes (still minus achievements - will remain unavailable until public release of the Steam version) that are present in the other distributed versions of the game. This means that while the game is not currently available for public purchase on the platform that you will still be able to play the pretty much the same experience as those that have now brought the game elsewhere.
The reason I say 'pretty much' is because the version on Steam currently is the version that was going to go on GOG before last minute corrections that were requested and therefore the Steam version is currently technically a superior all ages version of the game (although lets be honest, we are all playing with the Denpa mod regardless).
The intent will be that once progress is made with Valve and we can start looking at releasing through their platform that the version will be updated once more to match the version that is on GOG (this version features additional tweaks on nude sprites). Don't fret though as you will be able to restore all content as usual using the Denpasoft mod which will continue to remain available for free.
Whereas before we gave the option of downloading the Denpa mod either from our mirror or the Denpasoft store, due to the differences between the GOG and Steam versions this means for now there are two mods available which are both available through the mirror. If you are playing the current build on Steam you will need to download the older version of the mod.
This older version is found under PreRelease 24/07/2018 and this will be the case at least until the Steam version is updated again (when this happens the Steam version will function in the same way as GOG and therefore will use that version instead).
The Steam build now has Mac and Linux support
If you have auto updates activated in your library this should already be applied, if not the effects should reflect after reinstalling the game.
Comments
The Steam version features all the main bug fixes that were resolved in the public release, all tweaks to the game for GOG were purely for the game to be approved on their platform. They do not offer any new or additional content although it should now be mentioned that the Mac version was re-uploaded several days after release that featured more file permissions enabled to help some users who were having difficulty using terminal (see the third paragraph). Both games when running the Denpa Mod are the same game however when running the all ages versions the Steam version does not feature modified sprites or the same amount of content moved into the Denpa Mod. Expanding on the above 'the version on Steam currently is the version that was going to go on GOG before last minute corrections that were requested' (we were asked to reduce the amount of nudity) and 'the intent will be that once progress is made with Valve and we can start looking at releasing through their platform that the version will be updated once more to match the version that is on GOG' hence explaining that the Steam version is due to be updated to the same all ages build that is currently promoted as the public release all ages version once Valve are ready to continue the approval process ensuring consistency. If the game is updated further with new fixes then we would be updating on all platforms with Steam again getting these updates once discussions resume. If you're experiencing bugs please flag them with us either in a PM or a thread on our forum so we can explore further. Please remember to include the steps of replication, system specifications for your rig and if appropriate screenshots. http://forum.loveinspace.moe/board/14/shining-song-starnova

2018-08-13 18:00:06 +0000 UTCThat does not answer the question of future updates to Steam. Will the Patreons have access to updates for bugs that will inadvertently show in game or will we be stuck at current version till you decide something officially (which doesn't seem to be something you want to do for w/e reason). You attempt to clarify that Steam version for backers is superior because it has more content without patch, but at the same time say that GOGS version additional tweaks on nude sprites. Who the hell cares about content with or without patch if you're blocking bug fixes and tweaks? The hell is reasoning behind this and why can't I see any logic in it?
