Fantastic comment, you raise some very good points. This is all stuff that I’d like to get into with good time, but I’m interested to hear your thoughts on how that should play out? There are some intriguing dynamics to explore between the various factions of the G.U and the political upheaval that is caused by Deicides involvement and leadership. Like you said, the anti-Deicide movement will definitely capitalise on the fact that Deicide grows in power as the All-mother declines, all the while they are pouring everything they have into the war effort, thus declining their own power and crippling themselves economically. There is always the counterpoint that they cannot do it without Deicides help and that he has a great track record so far. There will of course be calls for Deicide to pay for his crimes committed before his revolt against the Imperium. All are interesting aspects of the political discourse that I’d like to play with in good time. But yes, tell me what you think 🤔

2024-06-06 09:04:55 +0000 UTCI think the Unsullied is a decent comparison for the Drones controlled by Deicide. When I think about posthuman sci-fi, and purpose-built varieties of human such as this, I like to keep in mind that they are not "born", "raised", "educated", or "socialized" as we are. A being like one of Deicide's drones comes out of the artificial womb fully formed, with everything it needs to know to do its one and only job. It may be that, while they have some social abilities (to the extent that they are useful for maintaining temporary or permanent decision-hierarchies), they aren't exactly sentient like you or I. Their brains are already wired up and set in a way such as to make them the perfect soldier, more so than any drill sergeant could impress upon an individual. So just imagine someone you know in your life who just seems to be wired to derive their entire identity and value from their work and multiply that by a thousand. The problem I see coming is that, in order to maintain and complete the fight against the Imperium, Deicide will need an equal if not superior number of these purpose built drones, or else the means to subsume the entire drone population of the Imperium at once. The GU must be extremely wary of the drones and the repurposed biowar automata gained from victories against AM. I see an opportunity to frame the anti-Deicide faction's upcoming argument within the GU as not only about "Is this how we should fight this war?" but "What happens if we somehow DO win? What will be done with all these drones, intelligent but not sentient fighting machines with no purpose but conquest and destruction, each at the hand of a single individual?" I hope to see Deicide lay out some kind of plan for how to "demilitarize" the imperium.

I’m not so sure on that one, there’s a possibility that we could eat them, but there are many factors to consider. One would be trace elements which may be poisonous to us, or even viruses! Perhaps the meat would just have to be processed before consumption like you said, it’s an interesting one 🤔

2024-03-01 19:59:05 +0000 UTCYeah, names of space aliens are easier to pronounce than of those from Belarus, it's a well know linguistic fact :) So, if biology of various species is similar they can eat the same food, to an extent, right? I was playing in my head with an idea of a human colony stranded among biochemically incompartible aliens without any plant seeds. To survive they would have to stick to a strict diet of highly processed food and enzymatic supplements, which in time became core of their culture. Like a kosher/halal equivalent in space.
