REACTION to IU - MODERN TIMES EPILOGUE ALBUM

Comments

It's okay kaia, it's okay if you don't read the lyrics because most of other reactors that have knowledge in music too didn't bother about the lyrics so much. Like they are trying to read the lyrics too at the same time but i'm sure it is still hard to do so, and im quite sure that even they are reading their mind ain't processing 🤣 PLUS fun fact for you, IU didn't contribute a lot in writing for this album so it's okay 🤣 You spent your time in reacting is already a big deal 💜

this album is definitely one of my favorites of hers even though I feel like every album of hers is my favorite lol. I have so much fun watching your reaction! didn't realize it's been a while since I listened to the whole album like this lol. Fun facts!! The Red Shoes is based on Hans Christian Andersen's story about a young girl who puts on a pair of red shoes that will not allow her to stop dancing; she must dance and dance, in a grotesque mockery of happiness, until she is dead. Maybe that's why this song makes the listeners feel SO TIRED after listening to it lol. You should see the MV and music show performances because it is performed like a musical theater! IU and Jonghyun used to give feedback to each other's songs and Gloomy Clock was supposed to be released as his song, but IU really liked it when she listened to it and asked Jonghyun to give the song for her hehe. cmiiw, but I think this song is the first Jonghyun's song that he gave to other artists. Voice Mail was not supposed to be included in this album, her company was against this, but IU insisted to include it. That's why it becomes the bonus track. The song is based on her real experience of confessing to her crush via voice mail (and then got rejectedhsaggashs after her crush said that he had known all along about her crush). I was kind of surprised that this is your #1 song from this album, but I agree. I love this song as well and thankful that she insisted to include it here.

ladydotele .

dont worry about the lyrics for her older stuff. since she wrote only few songs before 2015 chat-shire album and her flower bookmark series are all remakes of older songs. at least for me it's not a big deal to just enjoy these older songs. dont worry about it :)

I have an idea to maybe fairly satisfy all the annoying people complaining & giving you shit abt not reading lyrics

Voice mail was written by iu (both music and lyrics) and it almost didn’t make it on album but iu fought for it with her label and they settled for it to be a bonus track. It’s very personal for iu and it’s one of the few breakup songs that she admits to being based on her personal experience.

Bad day is one of my favorite iu songs and the lyrics make it even better, because it’s so relatable. Fun fact, iu wrote the song (both music and lyrics) when she was in middle school

Top 3 IU album for me for sure :) Love it

Haha. Watching you lose it while you listen to the red shoes was such a mood. That's the title track by the way so looking forward to the MV reaction when you get to it. Personally, this album is my top IU album. Every song has their own unique attributes and they are all so melodically easy to listen to. So some fun facts: Friday is a song you have reacted to. I had a request to a live performance of it the first time I introduced IU to you. This song has an MV too. Walk with me and daydream were duets with some very old legendary singers in korea. Choi baek ho is IU's father's favourite singer so that was how she came to work with him. The reason why Wait is mostly instrumental is that you are waiting for her to start singing. The lyrics are also saying she's waiting so it was really smart of her to give the listener that feeling, making them wait. As you pointed out, the entire album had very theatrical vibes with blues, jazz and sometimes Spanish music influence thrown into it. Modern times (the song) was also a tribute to Charlie Chaplin's movie, hence the title of the song.
