REACTION to QUEENDOM PUZZLE EP.06

Reminder to self (and also anyone else): these shows are so much more fun if you just ignore as much of the competition aspect as possible (easier said than done granted). I had such a great time with this episode and god was it more enjoyable lmao

Enjoy!

- Kaia

Ranking/mvps for each stage:

1. Glow Up

Honestly, strong strong contender for my favorite stage of the show so far. Idk what it was about it but the energy and the vibes were right and the girls were eating the choreo up

MVP: Okay this might be a surprise bc I'm not gonna say Hwiseo lmao (tho she did amazing as always and she came real close) BUT for me it's actually a toss up between Jooe and Elly. Elly because she really went in on the stunt and that took a lot of trust and guts to do and do well. Jooe because when I was watching the full cam she kept grabbing my attention in such a big way. The way she was hitting this choreo and this beat? Unreal. It's a shame we're really not getting to hear much from her in the show (thanks mnet) bc she's just been working her ass off in these performances and deserves so much hype for it

2. Web

I 1000% thought this would be my favorite going in based on the preview and it was close but Glow Up just had that extra flavor y'know? I'm so glad they were able to overcome the struggle and deliver such a powerful performance. My gay ass was a quaking

MVP: Yeoreum. This isn't even bias at this point like she's just a fucking incredible dancer lmao. Shout out to Riina wrecking my shit every time she appeared on screen in this fit tho

3. Overwater

The VIBES. That's all. The vibes were simply immaculate. The song, choreo, concept and members' individual performances worked beautifully together and for the "least impactful" of the bunch it kept me captivated. Like I don't wanna look away. It's stunning

MVP: Another tie for me but each are for very different reasons. First, Soojin. Obviously her flexibility and overall dance quality were on full display and I'm so proud of her for really getting that shining moment. It suited her so well and it's every thing she deserves and more. Second, Dohwa. While she was obviously incredible in the performance, Dohwa is honestly just one of my MVPs for the whole damn show bc of her attitude, her ability to rally the other members and just be a really freaking good leader to them. Fye tearing up after thanking her for her help is all the proof any of us need to know that Dohwa is these girls' rock and pillar right now and words cannot describe how desperately I want her in this line up. Lord knows if she has the popularity but she sure as hell has the talent and the mindset for it

4. Bad Blood

Okay so... as I said in the reaction a bunch, this was still a phenomenal performance. Even with the mistakes, the energy and power they gave (especially after the mistakes like Suyun's eyes had literal fire in them wtf) was unreal and I was very impressed with how the handled the mistakes for the most part.

That being said, I actually think that even if it had gone perfectly, it probably would have still been at the bottom of my list. Not because it isn't amazing but rather because, for me at least, it's the most "obvious" of the four. What I mean by that is that the other three performances had moments in them that really wowed me. Whether it was a stunt or a certain members performance or even just the concept/choreo itself, each of them had something that made me think "damn I couldn't have predicted that". However with this one, I kind of felt like "yeah this is sort of what I would expect from these members with this kind of song and choreo". Not that there's anything wrong with that of course and I absolutely still think they did a great job, but when I compare it to the other three, regardless of the mistakes, it just didn't have that ~special something~ for me personally.

MVP: Honestly this was probably the hardest to settle on mvps for but I think overall I gotta give it to Sangah and Wooyeon. They've both been putting in WORK this whole show and proving what powerhouse performers they are and I love that for them. I would like to give a special shout out to Suyun for getting possessed by some kind of dance demon after the split issue bc jfc I ascended

Anyway, those are my thoughts for now (not my ranking being opposite performance order). Will be very interesting to see how the points end up and what the interim rankings are looking like next week. Let me know your thoughts/rankings too!

Comments

Ok, ok, I have sooo many thoughts about this episode but I will try too be very concise ( I am having a good brain day so I got this). First off The dance battle was so good but my personal standouts are probably kind of obvious, Nana, Hwiseo, and Yeoreum Just killed it (but special shout out to Rocket Punch for that very spicy battle). As for the performances I mean everyone killed it, obviously the mistakes on Bad Blood were unfortunate but they were literally on the one part that was all about luck and the other two were really difficult maneuvers, plus with Nana if you didn't know how it was supposed to be you wouldn't even notice it. Other than that it was kind of insane that there weren't really any other, like, minor mess ups, so kudos all around on that. Now for my favorite performance I just want to go over some mitigating factors that I think make it even more amazing how this performance managed to be my top one. First off one of my ult biases is Yeeun, second one of my ult groups is WJSN, third "tell me now" (which I totally agree web gave that vibe) was my favorite Queendom 2 dance performance. But still the performance that was my favorite was in fact Glow Up, and even though Hwiseo has also stolen my heart through this show, my standouts for that performance were actually Elly and Yeonhee. And can I just have a little aside here to say that Yeonhee was really coming for me this episode, I just love the slightly shady side, and the leader side, and the cute girl trying to be a bad ass and kind of pulling it off. It's just to much my heart is weak and she needs to calm down. But anyways she also nailed the attitude for that performance and Elly just killed it I was so proud of her as a long time ki-ling, so good. Hmm, I think I may have failed at being concise, sorry about that.

We all know the camera loves Lee Yeoreum alot.

The competition aspect of this is literally the least of my worries... I am just here for great performances and cute interactions between idols I love and adore😍 also, these 4 songs are SO GOOD🤌

I'm really curious who mnet actually wants in this final lineup. The general concensus in the first episodes was Nana/Jihan/Yeoreum but now they really seem to be laying into the underdog edit for Queendom team at the extreme expense of the Puzzle team. They're making it out to be a David vs. an unprepared, borederline undeserving Goliath situation (which I partly understand -- there are a lot of "mains" on the Puzzle team and they have a general popularity edge), but more members on the Queendom team have point benefits than Puzzle team (7 members on Puzzle don't have points vs. 5 on Queendom). Regardless of who wins this challenge, the only outliers would be those who were in Nxde Team (which honestly deserved, all 4 killed it in their respective teams), everyone else is more or less in the same boat unless the points are the deciding factor for the eliminations. Overall, I don't think the 20K points was worth the now 3 weeks of dragged out drama, but I do think these past 2 episodes have had some of my favorite stages! It's been nice to see the creative sides of all the girls in the vocal/rap stages followed by some completely new sides of those same girls in the dance stages. I generally prefer the more "hyped" dances so Bad Blood (more Yeeun screen time but at what cost) and Glow Up (Elly's lip ring? Immaculate) were more my favorites, but Overwater and Web were also really great to watch. I don't think the mistakes in Bad Blood were bad enough to detract from people who had not seen the choreo beforehand so it will be interesting to see how that battle goes. If Puzzle ekes out that win, then Suyun fully deserves all 20k of those points for this battle. Personally, I think Glow Up's best shot would've been been if someone in Web messed up (that mistake would've been infinitely harder to hide) but I would also be pleasantly surprised if they do pull off the win. It would also be a nice note to end on if Bad Blood wins over Overwater. It doesn't sound like we're getting any performances next week so fingers crossed that retreat episode happens!

Loved all the performances in this round…it would be a real shame if the Q team doesn’t win 1, or even both, of the dance stages. Mistakes aside I just feel like both their stages were more impactful. As for Weeekly, you make some very good points about how good they are! They’re loaded with talent but sadly, severely mismanaged! One thing that a lot of people forget, or don’t even know, about Soojin….she left Mixnine in 4th place overall after episode 9 (I think-wasn’t in final 2 eps) because of the car accident!
