BirdieMaps is back on Moulinette
Added 2025-08-05 19:13:08 +0000 UTCAfter two years and countless technical changes, all my content is finally back on Moulinette. Looking back, it’s incredible how much has changed. When I first joined Moulinette, I saved my maps as JPGs and PNGs, and I had no idea how to handle Foundry modules. Post processing each map took me 40 minutes, and sharing them on Reddit, Patreon, or Instagram was a pain. Managing Moulinette felt overwhelming, and for a while, I had to step away and focus on other priorities.
Now, I’ve mastered Foundry modules, I’ve written scripts to automate almost every step after mapping, and exporting everything into Foundry takes just one click. All my maps are in WebP format, and the module size has shrunk to just a few hundred megabytes. It’s the perfect time for a look back on Moulinette.
With a few new scripts and tests, I converted every map to the required format. After a lot of typing, waiting, and surviving 12 Foundry crashes, it’s done. I hope everything works smoothly, though I couldn’t test all 1,200+ scenes! :D
For the pack structure, I stuck with the system I use in my Master Compendium: maps are grouped by biome, then by subcategory. Here’s an example:
Arctic | Dungeons
Arctic | Roads
Arctic | Wilderness
Forest | Roads
Forest | Towns
Forest | Dungeons
Underground <– all maps without an exterior
Specials <– very specific maps (Abstract Manors, Crashed Meteor, Nautiloid, …)
In the future, I’ll keep these packs updated with the newest maps. As always, please report any bugs you find. I’ll do my best to fix them as soon as possible. :)
