Happy June everyone!! How the hell is it half way through the year already? Woah that means this Patreon has been around for 6 months!! That has literally flown by. In saying that I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for being here, being active and being part of this little community. Its one of my favourite things to give back in this way and sharing what I know with you.
Todays vid is on how I made the Break Law flip. It's a nice, simple and straightforward practice and its a whole lot of FUN. Honestly flips are so fun to make because its like 70% written for you and also so effective when it comes to live shows and engaging your audience with music. Sometimes it's really hard to make people pay attention to your original music, but when you flip an existing record, you're adding your bit of spice to a song that people can relate and latch onto. I highly recommend playing around with these as the lessons you learn help a lot with your production and creativity as well. One thing I noticed I learnt is how to get a song as loud as the one I'm flipping, or how to match the intensities of each section. Lessons of which then bled into my own original productions because it started to realize areas that I was lacking in: my drums were smacking hard enough compared to a mastered track, the overall loudness wasn't high enough, my low end was too weak. Awareness of things like that made a big difference to my work.
After watching this vid, I want you to try something. Go and show a friend what you've learned. It could be just one little trick or lesson you got from this video. But showing/teaching others is a fantastic way to re-learn what you've just absorbed, making the lessons really stick into your brain (this is a proven technique, trust me). Plus, sharing is caring.
Happy flipping.
