Status Update : Battle system / Exp

Here is an update on the battle system and other stuff ; keep also an eye on the main post for upcoming changes.


The battle system will now feature a front row and a rear row ; 2 characters per row.

Depending on their abilities (close combat, ranged and magic), Ally and Enemy characters can target either the front, rear row, or both.

Defeating all characters in the front row will allow the rear row to be targeted by close combat abilities.

Upon selecting an ability, the information panel will show what kind of ability it is (along with damage/effect), as well as display a visual indicator on characters that can be targeted for convenience.


The Exp system will grant Experience points based on enemies defeated at the end of each encounter and allow Ally characters to gain levels this way.

The leveling of a character will reinforce their base stats, be reflected in battle and might be used to unlock other abilities (or this will be done in a skill tree like system, nothing set in stone yet).

The stats will be displayed in the character screen, with all character growth related information (this is currently the next task to be completed).


As for user friendly features, dialogue can now be advanced by clicking anywere as well as using Spacebar and skipped by holding Left-Control as well as using the "Skip" button displayed on the top right of the dialogue box.

Also, battle animations have been sped up by 2.

The Prologue can now be skipped entirely to get into the town hub and free roaming right away.

A couple of new locations in town as well as more Forest Areas for exploring/roaming are scheduled for next content ; same with new CGs (next should be the Fox for the enemies).


As we keep going, the combat as a whole and the way progression is beeing made will be adjusted/balanced.
