Evening (or whatever time it is in your timezone) all! It was a super long week at work and I ended up taking a nap on the couch when I got home yesterday so I didn't get much writing done, but it was a really good nap so I'd say that's acceptable.
This week in WIPs:
I've officially finished writing DSH, wooo! I'll probably continue posting a chapter a day like I have been, even though I kind of ran away and got ahead. Unless you guys would prefer just a dump of the entire 30+k fic? Haha.
My next project is a commission for the lovely Grace who has been super duper generous. I'm gonna make it good for you - or at least try 👀 I've been doing some plotting and boy this is gonna be fun. I hope everyone here enjoys reading it as much as I will enjoy writing it!
Goal Updates:
So I was chatting with Zel yesterday and decided I'd do a nice, long, detailed, super nerdy analysis of my word counts on my current WIPs and my fics from this year. Woooo nerdy.
So many of you might know that in most years I set myself a number of words I want to reach by the new year. In 2016 it was 100k, in 2017 it was 365k (1k a day on average), and in 2018 it was 520k (10k a week on average). I haven't so far set one for this year because it seems like there aren't any good numbers between 520k and 1mil. I'm considering 710 (2k a day on average) but it feels like a boring number?
My other goal, as I've mentioned here, is to post at least one fic per month. So far I've posted two or more, so I think we're doing okay haha.
Anyway, I was looking into my word count so far, and thought maybe once a month or so I'll give an update on where I'm at. I'm going to try to still track them, and we'll see how I feel in terms of a goal. (If anyone has any cool ideas, by all means let me know.)
First things first, I track via a handy-dandy spreadsheet. I love spreadsheets. In 2017 I tried to track by day, but I kept forgetting, worked across midnight a lot, and could never remember if I'd logged certain work etc which led to a lot of blanks as you can see. In 2018 I moved to tracking by work (with the date the number was registered, so I could see if I'd forgotten to log anything). This worked a lot better.

Note that some of these are incomplete fics and others are original works, so don't stress if you don't recognise a title haha.
This leads me to my current numbers for 2019:

Some of these numbers are rounded down to account for chapter titles etc, hence the rounder numbers on unfinished fics. The top few are to remove the words I wrote in 2018 on fics that are still not complete. 8SR will take its final word count from Ao3, so when I post the last chapter there it'll be updated.
All in all it's actually a lot better than I expected, it averages out to just under 2k per day, or a little under 13k a week, which is on par with my pace last year - If I kept this pace I would hit around 660k words at the end of the year, so maybe my tentative 710k isn't too much of a stretch? (It's just a boring number is all). Not bad for only 16k in completed fics on Ao3 so far! ^^;
I probably should have warned you guys from the outset that I'm a massive nerd. I should put that in my bio. You can expect a lot of math from me in the future.
Tata for now, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and enjoy the new chapters!!
Song of the week: Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever) - Andrew Goldstein + Simon Wilcox
I have no cool reason for this it's just catchy and I've been listening to it all week.
