My Father's Son - Chapter 13

Katsuki stared at the folder on the table as he waited, reading the little label over and over. He'd only skimmed through the journals in Inko's room, didn't want to disturb her for too long or embarrass the nerd if he found out, but something about them had stuck in his mind.
For a child writing them, they were so intricate, only getting more and more detailed as he got older, more speculation – often true long before Katsuki had known it – more math, more everything. Seeing the entire notebook about his quirk, about "Future Number One Hero: Downfall" and all the little intricacies of his quirk that he had never told anyone, had been... Well, it was definitely eye-opening.
When his favourite detective had said the words in such an offhand manner, a simple apology for the lack of paperwork they'd produced for him, the books had immediately been stuck in his head.
“Hey, Izuku?” he called, as the nerd passed the doorway, rubbing at his freshly-washed hair as he headed for his bedroom. “You got a sec?”
“Yeah, of course!” he nodded. “I'll be right there!”
He ducked away for a moment, returning sans the towel and with a shirt pulled on over his baggy sweatpants. When he sat down, Katsuki picked up the folder immediately, weighty in his hands.
“I wanted your opinion on something,” he explained, as he pulled a sheet from within and passed it to the surprised nerd. “Um, this is a villain we've been tracking. We don't really know what his quirk does yet, but these are the facts we do have. I have, um, crime scene photos too, if you want to see them, but if you're squeamish it's- it's okay. I guess I can answer any questions you have about them? I was just wondering if you had any thoughts.”
“Why me?” he wondered aloud, eyes already scanning the page. “Isn't this sort of information confidential?”
“I got permission, it's fine. Inko told me you used to study quirks a lot, and the police are at kind of a dead end, none of them are willing to speculate in case they turn out to be wrong.”
“Do you have any personal ideas?”
“None of mine have played out,” he admitted. “I feel like I've been staring at the same information, the same victims, for such a long time that I've just gotten numb to it. Maybe a fresh set of eyes will see something new.”
“Sure, I guess I can try. I'm no expert.”
“It's fine. Um, I'm gonna head to bed, but I'll leave this stuff here if you want the more gory stuff – don't leave it where the boys could find it, please – and you can let me know if you come up with anything another time.”
“Sure! I'll take a look before bed!”
“No rush.”
“But I want you to catch him!” Somehow, Izuku smiled. “I'll leave you any notes I come up with for the morning!”
“Thanks, nerd. Alright, I'm heading to bed. Get some rest, ya dumb Deku.”
“You too, Kacchan!”
He still wondered if he was doing the right thing, as he trudged up the stairs to his bedroom, but he supposed it couldn't hurt, at any rate. He'd only said he'd talk to the guy, not actually said he'd be in touch, so it wasn't like he couldn't just say it didn't work out, right?
Besides, it was really just glorified paperwork. What Katsuki had given him was beyond the scope of the actual job description. It wasn't his decision to make, in the end. All he had to do was explain the opening and why it came up, and let the nerd do the rest.
The business card burned a hole in his pocket, and he set it aside with his wallet and phone, huffing a short sigh as he crawled into bed.
It wasn't his fault if it didn't work out.
He repeated the words to himself as he fell asleep – he was trying to do a good thing, if it didn't work out, that wasn't his problem. He repeated it like a mantra, reassuring himself, lulling himself to sleep with the worries buried down deep.
When he woke, though, he found the folder waiting on his dresser, tucked there silently in the night beside his wallet, and the papers nearly spilling out of it made him do a double take.
“What is all this?” he muttered to himself, flipping through sheets of scribbled diagrams and notes. “Holy shit, dude.”
Right on top sat a little post it note, addressed to “Kacchan.”
Sorry, I got carried away! Have a good day at work!
He rolled his eyes, but shoved the folder in his bag all the same, ready to examine on his lunchbreak or when he got some downtime to do desk work. He hadn't had much of that, lately, between a surge in villains for no apparent reason, and this asshole leader of some villain gang that was sneaking around.
It had been a while since Lemillion called on him to help out with a case, so when he got the call out of nowhere he'd figured it was probably a big deal. The detectives had only confirmed his suspicions, when they handed him pages of crime scene photographs and rapidly decayed bodies. He knew that damn quirk, had stood right in front of those hands as he told them to go to hell because he'd never join them.
He set the folder down and reached for his costume, getting himself ready for his early patrol. He hated working Saturdays, hadn't done it more than a handful of times since Hiroki was born – Saturday was family day, their time to spend together for fucking once. But he could hardly refuse it, after Shitty-Hair had taken his Friday. At least he'd gotten to have some fun with them while they skipped school. Now he had to get back to tracking the group of assholes who would probably kidnap his kids in a heartbeat if they knew he had any.
The villains had gone dormant for a long time, after All Might put their boss in jail from the battle in Kamino, but victims had finally begun to resurface, and he had no idea why, which killed him on the inside. Not to mention he had no clue where they were hiding or what they were planning either. It was all one massive nightmare bundled into a neat little package with Katsuki's name on it.
He sneaked into the boys' room, smiling faintly at their peaceful slumber, and watched for a moment before he whispered his daily farewell, reminding the quiet room of his love. With that, he grabbed his things and padded down the stairs, heading to the convenience store on the corner to grab some much needed caffeine and maybe a rice ball or something to munch on.
─────
Izuku was surprised when Katsuki held him back, but Inko and Mitsuki didn't seem to think anything of it, so with a little wave he let the boys go. It was weird to send Yuuto away without following him, normally he only did that at the gates of his preschool, but he supposed it was a normal part of his kid growing up – he had his grandmothers and his best friend with him, it wasn't like it was a big deal. He'd be back in a few hours anyway.
“You're coming to work with me,” Katsuki finally explained, when the car was out of sight. “Ugh, can you put something decent on at least?”
“W-What? Me? Why? I don't have a costume or something, if that's what you-”
“Earth to idiot,” Katsuki cut him off, gesturing toward his own dark pants and ironed shirt, the top two buttons hanging open. “Police station. Hurry up.”
Still confused, but wondering if maybe he was missing something completely obvious, he swallowed hard and conceded a nod, hurrying back up the stairs to change. Thankfully his new suits were ready and waiting in his closet, so he pulled on the same charcoal pants he'd worn to Yuuto's school interview, picking out a shirt that he was sure Katsuki would have some pretentious name for like “fresh mint” or “gentle seafoam” but to him was just a light green.
Most of the ties on his hanger were bold stripes and checks, and somehow he felt weirdly self-conscious to look at them. Instead he picked out a much plainer one, grey with just a few swirly patterns marked out in silver, and carried it downstairs with a sheepish smile, shrugging his jacket on.
“Dumb Deku,” Katsuki snorted, taking it from his hand knowingly. “I wasn't convinced on the sage, but I guess it looks alright.”
Sage, then. Noted.
“Thanks?” he answered weakly, his voice a weird squeak with Katsuki up so close.
“Whatever.”
“So, um, w-why are we – why am I – going to your work?”
“Someone for you to meet.”
“M-Me?”
“Yeah, nerd, that's what I said.”
“O-Okay.”
With his tie neatly tied, and his jacket buttoned even though Izuku could have done that bit himself, he slid into the passenger seat of Katsuki's car. He sat straight and stiff, his hands balled into fists on his knees as he stared out the windscreen, and Katsuki didn't even glance his direction other than to make sure his seat belt was on.
“S-So,” he began awkwardly. “Um, who's this person you want me to meet?”
“A detective I work with a lot.”
“Oh! Um, how come?”
“Huh? 'Cause he's the only asshole who listens to me instead of being patronising as fuck, I guess.”
“N-No, I mean... Never mind.”
He sighed, resigning himself to just wait and see. Talking to Katsuki was like talking to a brick wall, sometimes.
“Alright, out,” Katsuki instructed, when they pulled into a parking space at the police station.
“Oh. Um, I thought- I mean, I assumed we were going to your agency.”
“Don't you listen to a damn word I say? I told you we were going to the police station.”
“O-Oh. I kind of, um, blanked out, when you said I was coming to work with you. I just... This is new to me, you know?”
“What, you've never been arrested before?”
“No!”
Katsuki smirked, and Izuku finally softened a little, sighing again as Katsuki locked the car behind them.
“Alright, this way,” he directed, stuffing his hands in his pants pockets. “Don't fall behind.”
Izuku understood the words a little when they stepped through the main doors, the building a bustling hub of activity even in the little reception area. It took him a while to realise that they weren't in any ordinary police station, this wasn't just the average little office down the road, it was some kind of headquarters or home base for something much bigger that was clearly going on.
“Oi, Trenchcoat,” Katsuki called, as he walked straight past reception and down a short hallway, Izuku bowing and apologising in his wake. “I'm here, open up.”
He thumped loudly on the door until a tall man pulled it open, his face immediately filling with defeat.
“It's nice to see you too, Downfall,” he sighed. “As energetic as ever, I see.”
“Go home and sleep, old man,” Katsuki snorted, sliding past him to show himself into the office. “Bet you didn't even go home last night. Eating from that garbage can you call a vending machine again.”
“It's nice to meet you,” the man spoke up with a smile, offering a hand to Izuku and ignoring Katsuki's complaints – clearly someone who was used to dealing with him. “Tsukauchi Naomasa, I've heard a lot.”
“O-Oh, th-thank you for having me, Mr. Tsukauchi. I'm Midoriya Izuku, it's a pleasure to meet you.”
“Come have a seat and we'll get started.”
Still trembling, he followed Tsukauchi inside, whining quietly when he found Katsuki rummaging through a cupboard, tossing packaged foods at a trash can.
“I'll bring you a fuckin' meal tonight,” Katsuki told him, as if he could be warning the man. “Don't touch any of this shit anymore, I'm tired of finding you lethargic.”
So Katsuki cared about him, then. They must be close. That was good to know.
“You don't need to go through the trouble, I'll be just fine.”
“Yeah right,” Katsuki snorted. “You ate shit like this when you were working with All Might?”
“No,” he confessed, dropping into his desk chair and waving for Izuku to have a seat opposite. “Somehow I was never quite so busy with All Might as I am with you and your friends.”
“Told you I was gonna surpass him,” Katsuki smirked, finally sitting down and pulling a familiar folder from his bag. “I know I sent you photos, but these are the originals.”
“K-Katsuki, what's going on?” Izuku choked out, as they spilled notes and diagrams in his own handwriting all over the desk. “Why am I here?”
“You didn't even explain?” Tsukauchi asked, somehow disbelieving and unsurprised all at the same time. “I'm sorry, Mr. Midoriya, I should have known he'd be like this.”
“It's absolutely fine!” Izuku assured him, sitting bolt upright and waving his hands awkwardly. “It's hardly the worst thing Katsuki has done! And I'm glad to meet you! And you worked with All Might? That's amazing!”
“He was All Might's right-hand man,” Katsuki said with a surprising softness. “Other than his occasional sidekicks, he was the closest person All Might had when he was in action.”
“Now I work with Lemillion and Downfall, for the most part,” he nodded. “Lemillion when he took over All Might's position, and Downfall when he barged his way in and took over the top spot.”
“Damn right I did,” Katsuki smirked. “It's my spot, I don't give a shit who All Might picked.”
“Yes, yes, we know,” Tsukauchi smiled faintly. “All Might knew you'd get to the top, don't you worry about that.”
“You gonna explain to the nerd or should I?”
With a faint smile still on his face, Tsukauchi nodded, turning his attention back to Izuku.
“A few months ago one of our best analysts retired, and we've been trying since to fill his shoes. We hired three different analysts all at once, but one decided it wasn't the job for him, another transferred to the on-site police forces, and the third is a lovely kid but he needs a lot more time and experience before we can really use him how we would like.”
“He told me this a few days ago,” Katsuki explained, surprisingly straight-faced when he glanced over. “Because they've been stuck on finding leads or weaknesses for this asshole hand-man and his henchmen that I'm trying to take down.”
“To my surprise, Downfall immediately gave me your name. As I'm sure you can imagine, it's not common for him, of all people, to recommend someone.”
“N-No, I can't imagine it is.”
“I asked him to give you this information we'd been working with and see what you came up with,” he continued, gesturing toward the papers on his desk. “Needless to say I was surprised and impressed to see just how much you came up with.”
“O-Oh,” Izuku blushed. “Y-Yeah, sorry, it used to be kind of a hobby of mine? Analysing hero quirks and things. I know he's a villain, but the same kind of rules apply.”
“Would you be interested in doing some more work with us?”
“H-Huh?!” Izuku blurted out, flooding a much brighter shade of tomato-red and slapping his hands over his face to cover it. “M-Me?!”
“I know you don't have the qualifications, but I'd be happy to work through the basics with you and get you up to speed on procedure. You'd be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, of course, but I think your insight could be valuable.”
“W-Wow,” Izuku stumbled, eyes wide. “I'm sorry, this is a lot to think about.”
“I understand entirely. If you're not too busy today, would you like to take a walk around and see the kind of work we do? I'm sure everyone would happily welcome you in to take a look at their work.”
Before he could answer, Katsuki was dropping the car keys into his lap, smirking as he stood up.
“Have fun, ya damn nerd. You'll love this shit. I'll see you at home after patrols, might be late.”
“Y-Yeah, I- Wait, I didn't- I never said-”
“Good luck with him, Trenchcoat,” Katsuki snorted, already walking out the door. “Don't mind the muttering, he does that shit all the time.”
“Thank you again, Downfall. I hope your patrol goes well.”
“It always does.”
With that he showed himself out, and Izuku was left staring at the detective in his heavy coat, waiting patiently for an answer.
“Yes,” he forced out. “I'd like to have a look around.”
“Right this way.”
─────
With the boys safely in their respective bathtubs, Katsuki finally got the chance to sit down at Izuku's side, giving him a pointed look.
“They offered me a full-time job,” he admitted, cringing when Inko's head darted up. “I said I'd have to think about it.”
“A new job? What's this about?” Inko asked. “I didn't know you'd applied for one!”
“I recommended him,” Katsuki explained, when Izuku remained silent. “The police department was looking for a new analyst, mostly looking at crime victims or security footage to analyse villain quirks, but some detective work too. All desk work, nothing dangerous, don't worry.”
“I'm out of practice,” Izuku said sheepishly. “I used to have all these notebooks, but I haven't seen them in years.”
“They're in my room,” Inko said softly, smiling when his eyes widened. “I'll pull them out for you.”
“You kept them all this time?”
“Of course, sweetie! I knew one day you'd want them.”
“Thank you. Um, full-time is a big commitment though, with you and the boys and everything, I told them I wasn't sure I could commit to that.”
“Why not?” Inko asked, before Katsuki had a chance. “The boys are starting school soon, they'll be out of the house all day anyway. And I'm perfectly fine, you know that. If anything happened I could just call you.”
“But they're growing up so fast and I don't want to waste a single minute that I could be with them. I've already missed so much of Hiroki's life.”
“You have far more years left than you've missed,” Katsuki pointed out stubbornly. “Do you want the job? Do you like the work?”
“I do,” he admitted. “But it's so much.”
“Then take it. You'll have evenings and weekends with the boys, just like you would have anyway, when they start school. I'm sure Inko and my parents will happily help out if we need a sitter some afternoons. I'm changing my patrol shifts anyway when they start school, you may as well change your own work hours too.”
“Yeah,” he said faintly. “I know, it's just... A lot.”
“Then tell them you'll do part-time and see how it goes,” Katsuki huffed, pinching at the bridge of his nose. “You're giving me a headache here, asshole. Tell them you can't commit to full-time yet because of your sons, but you'll happily work school hours and see how it goes. They need good people, you damn Deku, they'll compromise.”
“You think so?”
“You questioning me?”
“Sorry,” Izuku smiled faintly. “Thank you.”
“Whatever, nerd.”
Katsuki stalked off, his curiosities satisfied, and Izuku heard him upstairs helping Hiroki get ready for bed. With a little smile Yuuto ducked past the doorway, heading up to join them, and Izuku shot a knowing look across at Inko when they were left alone.
“I think it's an amazing opportunity,” she answered, before he'd even asked the question. “And if it doesn't work out, you can always leave.”
“It's just hard to think about being away from the boys so much,” he admitted. “I know they're starting school soon, but even that's hard. I just want to be at home with them forever.”
“I know sweetie, but they have to grow up one day. You can't just keep them cute little boys for the rest of their lives.”
“Why not?” Izuku pouted, cracking a smile when Inko laughed. “It really does seem fun. I know that's a weird way to describe a police job, but the work is... fascinating.”
“Then go for it. The boys will be so happy for you, that you've found a job you love.”
“Yeah, I hope so.”
When two little voices called down at him for bedtime cuddles, he excused himself with a laugh, heading upstairs to find them tucked up happily in bed, grinning as they waited for him to arrive.
“Took you long enough!” Hiroki laughed. “We missed you, Papa! Need bedtime kisses!”
“Sorry, I got caught up talking to Mom,” he smiled, leaning in and pressing a big kiss to Hiroki's forehead. “You're such good boys, getting all tucked up and comfy.”
“Daddy said you have something to tell us,” Hiroki continued, as Izuku turned to kiss Yuuto this time. “An announcement?”
“Of course he did,” Izuku sighed, shoving at a smug-faced Katsuki pointedly. “I think I got a new job today.”
“Really?!” Yuuto beamed, eyes wide. “A big job?”
“Yeah. I won't be working from home anymore, so I won't be here quite as often, but I'm gonna do my best to work the same hours you guys are at school so we can still spend lots of time together.”
“It's okay, Papa! Jobs are important!” Hiroki reminded him. “We'll still see each other every night and every weekend! It's okay if you're not here for a little bit!”
“Thanks, sweetie,” Izuku smiled, brushing green curls back from the smiling face. “We'll definitely spend lots of time together, I promise.”
“I know!” Hiroki giggled. “You'll probably be home more than Daddy anyway, so you don't need to feel bad!”
“Oi,” Katsuki grunted, folding his arms. “I don't spend enough time with you all of a sudden?”
“That's a hard question, Daddy. There's no such thing as too much time. But I don't think you're gone too much? I like our Saturdays especially!”
“Next year we'll get whole weekends,” Katsuki promised him. “I know I've been saying that for a long time, but with Deku and Inko around to help out, and you guys at school, it's gonna happen this time. Okay?”
“Okay! And you'll still come give me goodnight hugs, right?”
“Who do you think I am?” Katsuki snorted. “I promise.”
“Okay! Goodnight Daddy, goodnight Papa, goodnight Yuuto!”
“Goodnight!” Yuuto added quickly, snuggling down until his nose was under the warm blankets. “I love you!”
The words still made Katsuki's voice catch every time, but he nodded all the same, stepping over to the light switch.
“I love you too. Both of you.”
They hadn't been words he'd said much, earlier in life. In fact, he didn't remember ever saying them, until Yuuto showed up. The boy was so free with the words, so vocal about his feelings where Katsuki had always favoured actions, but he didn't have the heart to not return the sentiment.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he was surprised to find a phone call lighting up his screen when he pulled it out. It was unusual to get calls so late in the evening – and if there was an emergency, it would be his agency or friends calling, not a random number that wasn't saved in his phone contacts.
“Hello?” he answered, stepping into his bedroom and contemplating the clean hero costume hanging on the back of his door. “Bakugou speaking.”
“So sorry to bother you in your downtime,” a familiar voice responded, though he couldn't quite place it. “I know you start work early, we didn't want to miss you with our calls tomorrow.”
“No problem, I just put the kids to bed,” he nodded faintly, sitting down on the edge of his bed. “How can I help you?”
“I'm calling with regard to Yuuto's school application.”
He sat bolt upright, eyes widening.
“Yes, of course,” he choked out. “Um, is there something missing? Do you need more information?”
“No, no, not at all,” the woman chuckled. “Principal Yamanaka has asked me to advise you that we'd like to offer Yuuto a place in our class beginning next year. At this stage he will be in Class B, since there are a few small gaps in his knowledge, but his interview was fantastic and with his previous schooling history and the exceptional circumstances he's come through, we think he would be a valuable addition to our school.”
“That's amazing,” Katsuki stuttered, feeling completely unlike himself. “Um, thank you. Thank you so much. Uh, we accept, of course. He'd love to.”
“I'm glad to hear it.”
“I know this is a lot to ask, but could we get a copy of his test results? Or the notes? You mentioned gaps where he might be struggling, so I'd like to make sure I can support him in those areas before he starts school.”
“I'm sure we can work something out, Sir. I have your email address here, would you like me to send them there?”
“Yeah, that would be perfect,” he nodded. “Thank you again. He'll be delighted.”
“Our pleasure. Please keep up the good work.”
“And you, too.”
As he hung up the phone, his hand was strangely shaky, but he took a deep breath and stuffed it back in his pocket, sneaking into the boys' dark room.
“You still awake, kiddo?” he asked, crouching down beside Yuuto's bed. “I know we just left.”
“Mm-hm,” Yuuto rolled over, peeking out from his blankets. “What's wrong?”
“Nothing,” Katsuki smiled – a genuine, honest to God smile. “I just got a phone call.”
“Hmm?”
“You did so good, kid. The school accepted your application.”
“They did?” he sat up, red eyes widening as he stared. “Really?”
“Uh-huh.”
“I can go to school with Hiroki?”
“Yeah, buddy. Um, you won't be in the same class, but you'll be right next door, and you can take the train together.”
Yuuto threw his arms around Katsuki's neck, hugging him tight, and Katsuki grinned as he returned the embrace with a surprising ease.
“I'll let you tell Hiroki in the morning,” he whispered. “You want to come tell Papa and Nana with me?”
“Can I?”
“As long as you promise to go right back to bed after.”
“I wanna come tell them.”
“Okay, come on then.”
He tightened his grip a little to scoop Yuuto up, sneaking out the door and down the stairs to where Inko and Izuku were cleaning dishes together.
“Everything okay, sweetie?” Izuku asked nervously, when he saw the little blond head tucked against Katsuki's shoulder. “What's up?”
“Papa, guess what?” he grinned, holding out his arms and letting Izuku take him in a hug. “The school said yes!”
“W-What? Really? Is that who called Katsuki?”
“Uh-huh! I'm not in Hiroki's class but I'll be right next door!”
“I'm so proud of you, Yuuto! I knew you could do it! You were amazing in your interview!”
“Yeah, he was,” Katsuki smirked. “They said his interview was exceptional, and his written test was great considering the circumstances.”
“Circumstances?” Izuku frowned. “What does that mean?”
“He didn't come from an academic pre-school, most kids from those schools can't do the test at all. He's a very bright kid who has learned very quickly.”
“It was all stuff I learned in the new kindy,” Yuuto nodded. “I only just learned it.”
“Yeah?” Izuku asked weakly. “Well, I'm glad you learned fast, then.”
He passed Yuuto over to Inko for her turn at hugs and congratulations, and when their eyes met, Katsuki knew Izuku was beating himself up.
“Do you think Nana should take you back to bed?” Inko asked knowingly, getting a big grin from Yuuto. “Since Daddy and Papa already had a turn.”
“Yeah!”
“Alright, say goodnight Yuuchan!”
“Goodnight! Thank you!”
“Goodnight, kiddo,” Katsuki nodded. “You're welcome, get some rest.”
“Goodnight sweetie,” Izuku smiled softly. “I'm super proud of you.”
As soon as Inko was out of the room, Katsuki gave Izuku a shove.
“You seriously gonna do this shit?”
“W-What shit?” he asked, flooding red. “I didn't do anything!”
“You didn't do anything wrong,” Katsuki answered pointedly. “Stop thinking you screwed him up.”
“I almost did.”
“You did not. He still would have found a way to get where he wants to be, no matter what school he went to. This just makes it easier for him, makes him more prepared.”
“He deserves the world and because of me, he almost didn't have it.”
“You're a fuckin' idiot, you know?” Katsuki huffed. “You think every hero in the world came from that school? Every lawyer or doctor or engineer? You would have made it happen when the time came.”
“The school told me they give out scholarships, financial aid.”
“We don't need it.”
“But I could have done it. I could have tried instead of just... Just settling for what was local and dealing with it later. I didn't even try.”
“It. Doesn't. Matter.” Katsuki scowled, emphasising every word carefully. “It all worked out. Stop with this pity shit and be happy for him.”
“I am! He was amazing! I just...”
“Move on with your life.”
“Easier said than done.”
“It doesn't need to be easy, but you need to do it. For your sake, and his, and Hiroki's, and my sanity.”
“I'll try,” he said softly, nodding. “Sorry I'm such a pain.”
“I fight villains for a living and-”
“And I think I'm a burden, I know, I know,” he nodded. “Thank you, Katsuki. As much as I'm sure you'd deny it, you're a really good guy.”
“I'm a hero.”
“You know what I mean!”
With a little smirk, Katsuki ruffled Izuku's hair, and Izuku couldn't resist a little smile. It was the same way he always did it to the boys, the same little show of affection, and Izuku couldn't help but appreciate the gesture.
“A new job and a new school in the same day,” Katsuki smirked. “You're doing pretty good, huh?”
“Shut up,” Izuku scoffed, knocking his hand away lightly. “Thank you.”
“I wasn't asking for thanks.”
“I know, but still. Thank you.”
“Any time, nerd.”
