I only have fries for you [IidaBaku] - Part 4 [FINAL]

[Part 3]

“There he is!”

“Oi! Hag! Cut it out!”

Tenya looked up to see two spiky blonds heading his way, one trying his best to yank the other back without hurting her in the process – wouldn’t exactly be the most heroic move, after all. A tiny smile crept across his lips at the sight, especially when he saw the pink tint to Katsuki’s cheeks, and he raised one hand in a little wave.

“It’s nice to see you, Mrs. Bakugou,” he said politely, leaning over slightly to see past her. “And Mr. Bakugou.”

“You too,” Masaru answered with a smile. “Sorry about them.”

“How are you?” Mitsuki asked, ignoring her husband’s pointed words. “I hope the brat isn’t giving you too much of a hard time. Sometimes you just have to give him a good kick, you know?”

“He’s been great,” Tenya assured her, chuckling quietly. “No kicks needed, you’ve raised him well.”

“We both know that’s a lie,” Mitsuki laughed brightly. “But I appreciate the effort, you’re a sweet young man. Be good to him, brat! He deserves better!”

“Shut the hell up, I’m the best you old hag!”

He finally abandoned his attempts at halting her, stepping away instead, and Tenya’s smile stretched a little wider when Katsuki stepped in closer to him. He lifted a hand slightly, and Katsuki slotted himself in without hesitation, letting the arm wrap around his waist.

“You remember my parents?” Tenya prompted, nodding toward them as they drew closer.

“Yeah. Good to see you both.”

Mitsuki raised an eyebrow at him, but didn’t say a word of it, and Katsuki refused to meet her eyes.

“It’s good to see you, Katsuki!” his mother said. “And these must be your parents? It’s so great to finally meet you!”

The four of them exchanged introductions and small talk, typical boring-adult stuff, and Tenya tightened his grip slightly, pulling Katsuki a little closer. He’d gotten so touchy over the months, oddly clingy and a little possessive, and Katsuki kind of loved it.

“I got some great photos of you boys on stage,” Masaru told them, when he caught Katsuki’s eye.

“And all your friends,” Mitsuki added, smiling at Masaru fondly. “He was worried someone might not have family in the audience, so he wanted to get pictures of everyone just in case.”

“That’s very kind of you,” Tenya nodded firmly. “I think there were a couple, so I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.”

“I’ll send you all the best ones,” Masaru promised. “If you can pass them on to anyone who wants them?”

“Gladly. Thank you for thinking of us all.”

Tenya had liked Katsuki’s parents from the first moment they met. Masaru was full of so much love and kindness, the one person Katsuki clearly trusted most in the world, the only person he would calm himself down for, to keep him happy. Not to mention he was clearly the original owner of Katsuki’s smile, though he wore it much more often, and it made Tenya smile along with him every single time. And Mitsuki, so clearly Katsuki’s mother, with the same attitude and humour and loud, brash demeanour – how could he not like her when she was so much like the guy he adored?

Surprisingly, Tenya’s parents had gotten attached to Katsukivery quickly, too. He’d been nervous the first time, when Katsuki had come over to meet them, but Katsuki had fitted right in – had even shown up all blushing and adorable in a button-up shirt to make a good impression, even though Tenya’s parents wouldn’t have minded at all.

His father had started a whole spiel about the older generations of heroes he’d worked with over the years, that Katsuki gotten surprisingly involved in, asking all sorts of questions about heroes Tenya had barely even heard of, but Katsuki seemed incredibly knowledgeable about. Then his mother had presented a home-cooked meal that Katsuki had raved about so genuinely, and they’d shared all sorts of recipe secrets that Tenya was sure she’d never have shared with him, and just like that, he’d been a part of the family.

Seriously, they were only just graduating and he’d already been asked four times when he was going to propose – he was starting to think they liked his boyfriend better than him.

Tenya leaned down a little, planting a cheesy little kiss on Katsuki’s cheek, grinning when he saw Katsuki’s face contort in response.

“Disgusting,” he said, even as he leaned in closer. “Gross fucker.”

His face was flushed pink, and Tenya just smiled down at him fondly, relishing the embarrassed little pout that was so inexplicably adorable. He wasn’t sure he’d ever get over his ability to drag out those rare expressions, so different from the scowls he usually wore.

“You’re cute,” Tenya said quietly, unable to resist making him blush a little brighter. “Thanks for being with me.”

“Didn’t get a choice, we all graduate on the same day.”

“You know what I mean.”

Katsuki cracked a smile when Tenya laughed at him, and Tenya squeezed him a little tighter, quietly pleased when Katsuki laid his arm over Tenya’s to keep it in place around him.

“Hey! Guys!” a familiar voice called, interrupting their little moment. “Party’s starting at the dorms!”

Katsuki just flipped him off without looking back, but Tenya turned his head to smile at Kirishima, nodding gratefully.

“We’ll be right there!” he called back, getting a slap on the arm for it. “Come on, this might be our last chance to hang out with all our classmates together, do you really want to miss that?”

“God yes.”

“It’ll be fun,” Tenya promised, chuckling. “Just for a bit.”

“Fine,” he huffed, shedding the arm from around his waist. “Then you’re buying me dinner.”

“Deal.”

He slipped his blazer off and tossed it at his father, his tie already stuffed in the pocket, much to Tenya’s disappointment – it had been cute seeing him dressed up all formal and proper. Then again, he seemed to think everything Katsuki did was cute, so that was no real surprise.

“We’re going to some shitty party,” he explained. “I’ll be home later. Or tomorrow. I dunno yet.”

“Have a great time,” Masaru smiled warmly. “Just let us know when to expect you so we don’t panic too early.”

“Whatever.”

“He will,” Tenya promised. “I will if he doesn’t.”

“Thank you, Tenya. I appreciate it.”

Katsuki glared at him, but Tenya just poked him lightly, giving him a pointed look.

“You got kidnapped in our first year,” he reminded him. “Your parents have a right to worry.”

“I’m a hero now.”

“And they’re still your parents.”

“Whatever,” Katsuki huffed, folding his arms stubbornly. “I’ll send you a message.”

“Thank you,” Masaru chuckled. “I appreciate it.”

Mitsuki grinned back at them, a hint of mischief creeping into the expression, but before Tenya had time to be concerned, she was already nodding toward his parents.

“You have fun, we’re taking our future in-laws to dinner.”

“Your what?” Katsuki demanded. “They’re my future in-laws, you don’t get shit.

He realised his words too late, his entire face turning bright red, but Tenya just leaned over to kiss his cheek again, his stomach full of happy butterflies.

“Sounds good to me,” he said softly. “We can start on our ten-year-plan and budgeting spreadsheets tomorrow, after the partying is done.”

“Stop trying to get in my pants.”

Tenya just grinned, lacing their hands together, and with a few last goodbyes exchanged, he finally dragged Katsuki off toward the dorms. It was weird to think it would be their last night there, that they’d no longer cook dinners together in the tiny kitchen, or do their homework together in the dining room, or watch movies with all their friends in the living area, or squeeze onto one of their too-small dorm beds to hang out in private. Sure, they’d have other things in exchange – a bigger kitchen, a nicer bed – but Tenya already felt nostalgic over all the things that were about to disappear, about to fade into memories while they stepped out into the big, wide world to be actual heroes. Katsuki liked to pretend he wasn’t anxious about it, but Tenya knew better, despite the bravado he put on when anyone else was around.

“I was thinking,” Katsuki began, swinging their hands lightly as they walked up the path, like the lovestruck teenager he really was. “If you come to my place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and I come to yours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I won’t have to miss out on the big Friday night dinners your mom cooks.”

“That sounds fair,” Tenya humoured him. “What about Sundays?”

“Sundays we book a cheap hotel room so we can-”

“Bakubro! You came!”

Tenya was torn away from Katsuki’s hand when Kirishima and Kaminari both dove on him, already chatting up a storm about him actually showing up, but Tenya didn’t have time to be sad about it, with Izuku and Ochako already hurrying his way, babbling something nonsensical as they dragged him toward the doors. Tenya just glanced back over his shoulder, shooting Katsuki a sheepish smile as they were quickly pulled in opposite directions, and the look Katsuki gave him in return was amused, not remotely annoyed or concerned.

Tenya liked that expression on him.

“What if we just buy one big apartment and all live together?” Ochako was suggesting, as she led him over to where Tsuyu and Shouto were hanging out already. “Then we don’t have to worry about leaving the dorms!”

“I’m pretty sure Tenya has other plans,” Shouto said flatly, not even bothering to look up.

“And you don’t?” Tenya chuckled, glancing over to where Yaoyorozu was grabbing snacks with Jirou. “You don’t need to use me as an excuse, Shouto.”

He took an empty seat on the couch, settling in to hang out with all his friends for what could be the last time for a long while, and watched as Tsuyu giggled into her hand, trying her best to be nice about it.

“The perils of being chronically single,” Ochako sighed dramatically, flopping into a chair. “One day my princess will come.”

“Isn’t she just across the room?” Izuku asked sweetly.

“Hush!” she insisted, slapping his arm weakly. “She might hear you!”

“Do you want me to talk to Katsuki?” Tenya offered. “I’m sure he knows what she likes.”

“Shhhh!”

“We could invite them all to the apartment too,” Izuku suggested, cracking a teasing little smile. “Then Kacchan and Tenya can share a room, Jirou and Yaoyorozu will get to hang out, Shouto will get his room with Yaoyorozu, I can hang out with Kacchan, and you and Mina can finally-”

Ochako cut him off with a hand over his mouth, muffling his words, right on time as Tenya spotted a familiar little pout coming their way. Ochako gave Izuku a pointed look, and he mimed zipping his lips, one hand shooting up in a wave straight after.

“Hi Kacchan!” he called above the music Jirou had turned up extra loud. “Sorry, did we steal him too soon?”

“Keep him,” Katsuki snorted, though no one believed it for a moment. “I’ve been turned into a carrier pigeon or some shit.”

He dropped a piece of paper in Ochako’s lap pointedly, shoving his hands in his pockets as he waited, but when she unfolded it to look, the group just fell silent.

“Well?” Katsuki prompted.

“Bakugou, I can’t read this.”

“Haah?”

He leaned over to look, rolling his eyes when he saw the indecipherable scribbles, and snatched it back to burn up in a quick, annoyed explosion.

“Fucking typical,” he grumbled. “Idiots. Raccoon Face wants to get your phone number, she’s being a massive wimp and won’t come over here her damn self.

He glared at her across the room as he said it, getting a little eep in return, but Ochako didn’t even seem to notice, too awestricken to care.

“Me?” she asked quietly. “I mean, we have social media to communicate already, so it’s not like she can’t just DM me, so why-”

“Jesus Christ. Fuckin’ Deku, do all your friends pick up your shitty muttering habit?” he shot Izuku a glare, though it clearly held no hard feelings in it. “She fucking likes you, you idiot. If you like her, or like girls, or whatever, you can give her your god-damn number so she knows you’re interested. Girls are so damn clueless.”

“Oh!” Ochako squeaked. “She-? I-? Me-?

“Just...” Katsuki took a deep breath, pinching at the bridge of his nose as he took a moment. “Fucking go over there.”

“Oh! Right! Yes! That’s a good idea!”

She scurried off nervously, and Katsuki seemed to finally figure out how to breathe again, perching on the back of the couch where Tenya had taken a seat. Izuku was already talking a mile a minute at him, Katsuki surprisingly patient as he listened, so Tenya just turned slightly in his seat, giving Katsuki a quick smile when those brilliant ruby eyes flickered his way.

“I’d better go back,” Katsuki said softly, when his conversation with Izuku drew to a natural close. “The idiotsquad is waiting to torment me some more.”

“Miss you already,” Tenya teased, getting another cute blush in return.

“Gross,” Katsuki huffed, but he still poked Tenya’s cheek lightly as he stood up – a tiny, affectionate gesture that he’d been doing ever since their third date. “Don’t fill up on snacks, you promised me dinner after this shit.”

“I know,” Tenya assured him. “What do you want to eat?”

Katsuki only paused for a moment, taking a couple of steps before he turned to look back.

“Fries?” he suggested, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

“Sounds perfect.”
