This one's been a long time coming as well. Originally this was planned as the opening salvo of "Season Two", a direct follow-up to the end of The Zat: Seatown, where Mancuso and Zat's relationship is explored a little more and made expressly romantic. I'm not opposed to revisiting this one and expanding the events a bit, I'd still like to explore those weeks where they go so off-mission, as well as explore The Little Alligator's deal and connection to the Alligod a bit more (the stolen kidney played a bigger role in the more expansive script) but for now I really like the pacing of this. Kind of a perfect distillation of how I handle pacing in comics: Stage a scene and then move on once what needs to be said is said. A very economical way of storytelling
The color palette is sourced from screenshots of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1982 masterpiece Querelle and I think it lends itself well to the humid nature of Louisiana. Claire Sturgeon is another character I'd like to explore more as well. Felt like I needed a Clarice Starling type just in case Zat goes full Hannibal.
