The small army of lvl 60 cultists subdued the minitours, used them as fuel for demon summoning, then a demon powerful enough to require dozens of platinum-level monster sacrifices was summoned and is what's behind the mind control shenanigans. The fairies probably factor in someway as well. Could even be a collaboration between an archdemon and the fae. There are still too many pieces missing to get a clear picture.
