They're dealing with the Abominations, they killed the Fiend, and if they also deal with the Fiend's daughter, they win favor with House Corinna as well as further solidify the Inquisitors as the 'real' authority in the Empire. Xavier has other motivations.

To be honest, they do seem a bit obsessed over an Enemy's child. Is Xavier even aware he is talking about sentencing a 11 year old ? If Saints and their teams are getting killed by [Abominations], it really appears stupid to focus on Melas.
