Before you call her a manipulative b****, consider this. First of all salvos is still a child although she seems to be maturing faster than a human child would which brings me to my second point which is she's not human. salvos is an entirely different species that develops differently than humans. if she were human she would have never survived in the Netherworld. Considering that she is probably immortal, her rate of development is ridiculously fast. And even though she appears to be selfish, she is not. Remember what is motivating her. She wants to help her friends to get stronger and to get back to her companion so she can help him to survive. When it comes to survival salvos is a genius. Further she's unencumbered by such emotions such as fear anger, guilt or worry. Even in the Netherworld she was able to think ahead plan and understand her limitations and the abilities of her enemies. She makes it a point to test out any and all of her abilities with an eye towards aiding her survival. Personally, I am enjoying watching her development immensely.

Kind of fair. My impression is that she intentionally acts childish to irritate people, but wants them (or at least her companions) to know that actually she's playing it up and she understands a lot more than she often lets on. Kind of wanting your cake and eating it too. It'd help if she made it clear earlier than this of course, I think this is the first time she straight up told them that she's not as childish as she sometimes comes across as. I'm not sure I consider is as far as malice? Or even that manipulative, since I don't think she's being childish to escape consequences as much as a tool for annoying Daniel and somewhat Edithe. Is she annoying? Yeah, I wouldn't want to deal with her myself. Does she deserve the title of manipulative bitch? That I don't agree with.

All I got from this chapter is Daniel is a doormat. Salvos just spouted a lot of bs imo. I'm not just being reckless, I'm being intelligent about it. Now that I can think, I'm looking for ways to put us in even more reckless situations safely. And Daniel is all, I'm sorry, my bad. Dude. If I was Daniel, I'd be PISSED. I've been treating Salvos like a kid all this time but actually, she knows what she's doing, she's learning, and she's being calculating in how she's going to put me in even more danger. I'd just drop the party, or at the very least, go do my own thing for awhile. Which Daniel did in previous chapters when he left Salvos when she went levelling in a cave or something. I thought author was intelligent in how he made the party split up for a while then. Just because you're friends with someone doesn't mean you have to keep doing every single thing together, or that you have to keep putting up with something you don't want to do. Daniel has the hero buff. He doesn't need to spend as much time as the others in grinding levels. Nor does he desperately want to level as fast as possible to the point of being suicidally reckless. He doesn't like fighting, and he's scared of dying, but Salvos just keeps deliberately putting him into situations where he has to risk his life over and over. Why is he not pissed? Why does he just keeping going along with it? Edith is distant and at this point, feels more like a friend of a friend. And Daniel just looks seriously unhappy with the situation for the past couple chapters to the point he's now having nightmares about his gold. Why not leave? There are some comments saying both Daniel and Salvos are in the wrong. But I think the biggest problem is actually Edith. She used to help Daniel in keeping Salvos in line, but now she's blinded by her desire to catch up, so she's abusing Daniel's goodwill by keeping silent every single time Daniel asks her help. She's selfishly hoping that Daniel will keep letting himself be pulled along by Salvos' selfishness. And if Salvos wants people to stop treating her like a kid, she should start by stop deliberately acting like a kid. She acts childish most of the time, but she turns around occasionally revealing that she's acting this way on purpose just to deliberately annoy people. Which is why it's hard for me to believe anything she says anymore. Doesn't she just act childish so she can get away with shit, but now that she wants things that just being childish can't get away with, she turned around acting all wronged instead. Classic bitch strategy, which I don't think author is going for. But her childish/actually on purpose/childish/actually on purpose/you're wronging me by treating me like a child shtick is seriously giving me this impression. This latest story arc, for awhile now, I've been feeling that Salvos is transitioning from a loveable childish free spirit to a manipulative bitch who knows exactly what she's doing to get her way, and this chapter just sealed it for me.

I'm not sure how much I believe salvos here. Not because she's lying, but more so it feels like a child is saying these things still. This conversation just felt kind of off.

I feel sympathy for both sides of the issue. On the one hand, Salvos is a walking disaster who drags the party into more and more dangerous situations, because while Salvos won't pick a fight with something she knows she can't beat, she will put herself and the party in real serious danger in the name of getting stronger. And because of the latter point, it's easier to forget the former (that she doesn't challenge things she can't beat). Her behavior outside of a fight is in some ways actually worse. While she's not literally a child, she is one in her experience, or rather inexperience, with the greater world tends to lead to her being gullible, or naïve. Keeping her out of trouble is a lot like babysitting. On the other hand, we see it from Salvos' perspective. She grew up in an entirely different environment that forged something different from a human. She is steadily learning how to blend in with humans and has made enormous progress considering where she started from. Similarly she has somewhat calculated recklessness; her standards for what is safe or reasonable to do don't quite match up with a normal human's, but nevertheless involves keeping the party intact. And it's probably incredibly aggravating that her companion isn't acknowledging this. In his head, she hasn't improved much at all, despite that she has become a more mature person with her experiences. Moreover, though Salvos' experience level is child-like, her personality and understanding is not, and it doesn't seem like Daniel really connects with that, and ends up demeaning her in matters where it's absolutely not warranted. I actually consider this quite good writing; there is an issue, but it's with both sides; both Salvos and Daniel have bias' but also valid points. Moreover this needs to be aired sooner rather than later, because regardless of how correct Daniel is about Salvos, it's also been genuinely irritating her.

My first though upon reading the chapter title was, "You mean *more* reckless, right? Turns out it was the opposite, lol.

Jonathan

She literally said that they should first find out everything possible about the Lich? Not that they'd attack it right away...

Necroma Crowley

Daniel is right this time. It is foolish to decide to attack an enemy of unknown strength. All they know is the Lich is a powerful sentient undead necromancer, more powerful than any undead they have ever faced with no real upper limit to how strong it could be. The thing could be lvl 500 and capable of one-shotting their entire party from several miles away for all they know. It would be one thing if they had an idea of strong it is, but they don't.

More experience is awarded for defeating an enemy at least 30 levels above you! Should be 20 levels, not 30

ZaA

Nice. Also, typo in the Changeling level up. Number off.

Lol, I'd be pretty frustrated with Salvos at this point, too
