Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! + some self-reflection

Not gonna lie, 2022 was a pretty fucking shit year for me. I was barely able to sit down and focus on writing for 4 months of the last 12 months, what with depression and injuring my fingers and my grandmother passing away and moving countries and getting covid twice. Most other authors would take a month-long break when they’re moving cities. I was moving countries over three months and I still somehow managed to output chapters during that time.

Granted, looking back at those Salvos chapters I got out from my grandmother’s funeral to when I was moving countries, I am not exactly proud of their quality, and I genuinely believe I could’ve done much better. Still, I tried my best, and I will continue to try my best.

People ask me, why don’t you take breaks? I have literally never taken seven days off writing once in the last two years, even when I had finals and when I graduated. Well, the fact is, I am the youngest successful author on RoyalRoad. I an 22 turning to 23 in March while most authors are 30 or 40 with families or kids. I have the privilege and the opportunity to be able to spend my time working hard now and relaxing more later in my life. I mean, my Salvos webcomic is coming out soon. When that’s out, I’ll probably take a two-week break just to enjoy myself. That’s a two-year project that’s finally going to come into fruition in May of next year.

Anyway, December has been great so far, and 2023 seems like it’ll be mostly smooth sailing now. While this year has been one of the worst years of my life, this upcoming year seems like it’ll be one of the best years of my life. And I only have you guys to thank for it.

So thank you. Thank you for letting my tell my stories. Thank you for enjoying my stories. And thank you for letting my dreams become a reality.
