Due to delays with "Salvos" I actually went out and read all the "Amelia" books, and I can't say I'm a fan. The whole thing looks like a series of anime tropes and doesn't take itself seriously, which is why it is hard for me to take it seriously either. Neither the world nor the characters are compelling, unlike "Salvos", where the characters are introduced and built slowly and everything is convincing enough for me to be able to "live" there, and the funny elements work much better since they are being contrasted by a serious situation, unlike "Amelia" where everything is a joke of some kind. Also, it's hard to empathise with the MC, since she has several obvious solutions to her problem - the first is to just browse through the multiverse until she finds a world where she will be able to live the way she wants, or visit that hero king, ask what his problem is, then take him to Earth, show him that due to time differential his family is dead, and then he either stops being a pest or they even get together because they are in an identical situation. In any case, unlike "Salvos" which really strikes a chord, the "Amelia" world just doesn't.
