When I came up with the idea for Havarati I decided I wanted him to be ridiculously expressive and entirely non-verbal. When I write for him, I actually sit here and "talk with my hands" as I try to picture what he's trying to convey. It's a lot of fun, and really forces me to think about body language. You can convey a shocking amount of information and emotion through a single hand, even without resorting to something like sign language. All the daemons in this book are a ton of fun to write for. Havarati will be sticking around for a while at least, so I hope he's as enjoyable to read as he is to write. :)
