[Salvos] 700. Savior and Hero (Removed for KU)

(Removed for KU)

Are you sure you're not reading that too negatively because of Salvos withdrawal? ;) I mean, I see your point. But I want to hope that he's grumpily getting used to Salvos' modus operandi!

Dragonmaster_42

I'm reading this again and honestly, Haec is getting on my nerves. Ok, sure, there was legitimacy in his initial suspicion of Hartia. His suspicion of Salvos' [Truth Divination] is already braindead, but ok, let's assume he doesn't know what Salvos knows. However, now, after Hartia freed the entire 3rd legion without a single sign of betrayal, he's still treating Salvos with not only suspicion, but borderline contempt, and it's obviously making her feel bad and, furthermore, it's making her treat Hartia worse than necessary by keeping him locked up, while the former Death Squad members are allowed to roam free. Basically, he's repeatedly treating her like a mischievous child or something, to the point where even Taburas could abide it no longer and spoke in her defence. He looks like he's on a very bad power trip or something, and his insistence (to Taburas) that he's a leader, when he previously very obviously considered himself first and foremost a follower of Salvos, is also a reason for concern. Salvos, on the other hand, is handling the situation brilliantly. She's not sulking, she's not having hissy fits, she's not trying to assert her leadership aggressively - she just gets shit done, repeatedly, methodically, no fuss, providing hard evidence of her competence and power, and this is already making Haec look like a fool on an ego trip, rather than a concerned and rational leader. And those other demons are watching and creating their own conclusions. Sure, Haec was a known quantity to the 3rd legion, but as things progress, they see Salvos doing the actual heavy lifting and planning, and Haec is making himself sound important. Before his evolution, I thought Haec would make a good King of Netherworld, but with his current behaviour, he would make a terrible one, barely any better than Regnorex. I hope he gets his shit together, but if he doesn't, it would be better if he died, because if he's insecure enough to act this disrespectfully to his childhood friend and a person who's the one and only reason why they're not dead yet, he is absolutely not the person that should have any power over anyone, let alone be a planar ruler.

Danijel Turina

Yes, most likely. In the worst case scenario the leaders were all 10 levels below her, which gives a xp reduction if i remember correctly. It could also be that the evolved class needs more xp than before. But she should have gained atleast some Levels.

Tim

Whow, whow whow, wait a minute. Quoting Salvos from the previous chapter: "Are there really that many legions left? I thought we already freed more than half of them.” There are 50 legions. More than half would say 25 plus the third legion, at the minimum. According to my previous guesstimates, Salvos gets a level per 10 Primeval demons she kills. They are easy for her to kill, but the level differential isn't such that she would get that much less experience compared to the Death Squads she wiped out. Let's say she wiped out 25 Primevals. Ok, let's say Haec and the others did something, so let's say it's 20 at the least, but probably 25. She should have levelled twice in her species and some in her class. We haven't seen her stats so we assume she's still 168, but I would expect her to be at 170, and 155 in her class at the least.

Danijel Turina

Another thought: although Regnorex has a vast numerical advantage on his side, he has one crucial flaw in his entire kingdom that might make it crack as if made of glass. The morale is at an all-time low. You see, Regnorex just sacrificed his most loyal people just to power the portal for a failed invasion of the Mortal Realm. Not only is it the kind of callousness that made Haec decide against him and betray him at the first opportunity, and Haec as the heir-apparent had all the reasons to be loyal, it also created a very good argument: since Regnorex now plans further genocide of demonkind to power another portal, it's quite logical to assume that he is absolutely insane and has no limits to his madness, and therefore nobody on his side has anything to hope for; they are all seen as sacrifices and are essentially as good as dead if they remain on his side. The other side, however, is led by a former Heir, and the Devil's Daughter who already foiled one of Regnorex's plans and there's good reason to believe she can do it again, proving both that she can succeed against him, and that his plans are flawed and stupid. Sure, no argument will work against truly loyal zealots, but if enough zealots get killed, the rest will switch sides, even the formal loyalists, because the argument that Regnorex cares nothing about the lives of his followers is absolutely iron-solid, and even the Death Eaters acknowledge it, and have to default to fear as the main argument for loyalty. So, basically, Regnorex is in a position where he already killed off those who were loyal enough to him to voluntarily go to death for him. The rest of them watched this. He now plans to sacrifice the pools of demon blood to fuel another ritual. His Heir defected. His first plan proved to be a total failure, everybody died for nothing. Salvos quite obviously outwitted him. Now, he lost two entire death squad units, and half of his legions together with their leaders; all presumed dead. The rest follow him for the same reasons people would follow Ramsay Bolton - fear of being flayed alive. This means 99% of his troops are utterly demoralized and everybody who is not completely insane/evil will defect at absolutely the first opportunity they can do so safely.

Danijel Turina

Oh, I thought of a possible solution for levelling our guys. Regnorex's forces used the brainwashed wild demons in the invasion of Inoria, herded by specialised Archdemons; wild demons ranging from Hellhounds to Archarachnes, Chtonic Agaros and Hellabomination. Those had to come from somewhere, and it's a reasonable assumption that Regnorex had more in stock. Those didn't have collars. So, what if the army our guys are seeing on the tablet is only a fraction of what's coming for them?

Danijel Turina

"Everybody" is a strong word for what we saw so far... But give his moniker, he might be a beast adjacent demi-humanoid. Maybe some fear and curses, maybe just a creepy damaging skill.

Dragonmaster_42

That would make him wayyy to old for is level, I'd say...

Dragonmaster_42

Disgraced hell king, imma make a wild guess, that Jofis is a survivor from Samuels kingdom and tried to make his own kingdom similar to Samuel’s but regnorex cam and stole all his hard work

Sivart

I wonder what kind of skills does Jofis have. By how everybody is scared shitless of him, I'd say he must use some kind of [Inflict Fear], possibly even as a passive. That can be a problem if you don't have some curse protection.

Danijel Turina

😂 being left on a cliffhanger every few days is driving me crazy… the story is great keep it up!

Bryme

It will be fun to see what they actually do and don't know. Reggie likely doesn't care too much, but what about his close allies? Oracli? Murdering all of them is definitely a sensible assumption as a demon, though, especially if they trust in the collars. Depending on Reggie's actual strength, it might even be the right strategy (discounting Haec's skill)

Dragonmaster_42

Don't forget that Salvos can be in multiple places at once! Clones! She can abuse her clones! Aside from that, her life is out on adventures, I would say.

Dragonmaster_42

So, the open collars are no longer visible on the tablet. How will Regnorex and his minions perceive this? I think it will all make sense to them now - Haec gathered the "liberated" demons in one spot, then used some broad-area skill to nuke them all in order to level himself for the attempt at Regnorex; sacrificing a million innocent demons would be perceived as an expected and normal thing to do. I don't know if they know about Salvos at all yet, but if they don't, Haec will be perceived as the threat, and will be the main target. It would be for the best if they didn't discover that the liberati are a protected entity, because then Salvos and Haec can be made vulnerable by being forced to protect them. Essentially, Salvos treats them like civilians and not really combatants. Thats good for them and for her reputation as a saviour, but it doesn't help her win the war. Regardless of her strength and skill, she needs a powerful team around her that can back her up and is dedicated to keeping her safe, because she always chews off more than she can handle.

Danijel Turina

“That’s right! I dislike leading people! That’s boring!” - as much as it would be nice for her to become the Queen of Netherworld, I have to agree with her that she's a poor fit for an administrative role. For instance, the lives of her mortal companions are slowly expiring, and she will want to spend as much time with them as possible; that's really incompatible with having to rebuild a proper kingdom in the Netherworld, which, one would expect, would be a 24/7 job for decades. Also, Netherworld is not her home anymore; she came there only for Haec, and once she can leave him in a safe and stable position, she will hardly want to stay there. Her life is in the Mortal Realm.

Danijel Turina

Well, she's likely more deserving of this treatment than Reggie, Soli and Tera, who presently receive it.

Danijel Turina

Which is quite appropriate, considering how demons don't really know anything about her, and she's a legend in the Mortal Realm. She needs to build respect if she is to transform Netherworld for the better; basically, her kindness would always be misinterpreted as weakness if they don't see her crush formidable foes and win major battles. We don't want them to think she got soft and weak by associating with humans, which was an aspersion frequently cast by Belzu and even Samuel.

Danijel Turina

Great chapter, Salvos on her way to becoming a religious figure 🙏

Azrie

No, she stuck the prison in her pocket space with Hartia still in it.

Cha0sniper

Venas was level 188, so... Manageble. It would be strange if he was divine. Let's hope for a substantial fight!

Dragonmaster_42

Solvos on her way to getting worship from almost every demon

Dcs5782

Wanna bet the number of levels? Against Hartia, she got species +1 and class +4. I think Salvos will test her class skills in a real fight, but the main damage will come from her species skills. The finishing blow might be [Worldbreak], so I'd say +3 species / +3 class for a total of +6

Dragonmaster_42

Demon Jesus?

Dragonmaster_42

Was the deal that specific? Anyway, that's not the issue! It wasn't Salvos' skill! Lame!

Dragonmaster_42

Hey Melas! Congrats to 700 whole chapters! What a number! It's honestly amazing!

Dragonmaster_42

Congratulations and thanks for 700 great chapters Melas delta

Umbra

Haec thinks he knows who Salvos is, unlike the others, but the fact that he thinks she'll have trouble with that lvl 196 [Overgrown Bat] means he has a surprise coming. She has all of her grand skills ready and all the new corruption skills. [Claw of Corruption] go crunch.

Danijel Turina

Give it a few hours. :)

Danijel Turina

"However, his voice vanished as he disappeared into [The World Of My Mind]" - wait, does that mean she put him in her pocket space, and not in the [Prison of Isolation]? If so, that's much better; he has the best seat in the house and he's also safe from vengeful minions of Reggie-boy.

Danijel Turina

Aww no pandemonium free for all, booooo

Zuuuuuri

Damn, keeping Hartia locked up in there is really a dick move on her behalf, especially since their deal related to all the demons in the 3rd legion, not all demons with collars everywhere. Next time she says she always keeps her promises, she needs to have her nose rubbed in shit.

Danijel Turina

"I still don't think we've seen a [Demon of Envy]" - Iivor?

Danijel Turina

Finally some good xp.

Tim

Taburas continuing to obtain legendary amounts of character growth. She's actually likeable when she's not being a [Archdemon of Jealousy]. Which does remind me, I still don't think we've seen a [Demon of Envy].

WingedIkaros

>Savior and Hero >you’re not the savior. That’s Salvos’s role in this. Because she’s the strongest of us all. "Hail the Messiah!" "That's right, I am the Messiah!" As if Salvos already didn't have a big enough head smh.

Ihaxlikenoob

Ahhhhh, Taburas is such a tsundere xD
