I'm doing some math in my head and if those two lvl 190+ guys pan out, this will speed things up significantly and basically make it possible for the rebellion to in fact pre-empt the ritual. Essentially, there are two models a rebellion can follow. The first is attritional - everybody you encounter is loyal to the government and you need to kill them all to succeed. This never works; historically, I can find no precedent of such a rebellion being successful. The second model is an avalanche at a critical point, where a rebellion is merely a spark in a combustible mass of profound societal dissatisfaction, and huge masses instantly switch sides as soon as they see that the rebellion has a chance of succeeding. The example of this is the overthrowing of Ceausescu in Romania, where only his most loyal and villainous henchmen stood at his side, and they were quickly torn apart by the people. Also, any kind of a civil war has a chance of success only if it includes a big part of the country's military, historically speaking, and this is starting to happen in the kingdom of Regnorex.

Danijel Turina

Good point. The only moment that can be interpreted as Angelic Premonition was when Jofis threw her scythe back at her right at the moment the [Flames] fizzled out. So, this means that there's no danger of imminent attack, or an attack that would actually be a danger to her. Let's keep in mind that she has extreme Vitality stats at the moment, and that the ratio of stats between herself and Manos is about the same as between herself and Jofis when she wiped the floor of Netherworld with his head. However, if push comes to shove she's not the one I'm necessarily afraid for - her friends are all im a much bigger danger from those two lvl 190+ guys. But let's say those two defect, and their defection checks out as authentic and not a ruse. What's next? I'd say Manos could be very persuasive to other Death Squad members, and let's say most of them defect, and a few hard fanatics and genuinely bad people need to be killed. Also, there are those remaining Legion leaders; let's say some of them defect. The entire legion of Jofis? I would expect them all to be the worst crazies, or scared into submission to such a degree there's hardly any hope for them. That's what I would expect in the immediate future. After that, the word will come back to Regnorex, and since he has more important things to do, he'll send Focalor to deal with it. Then, it's up to Salvos to try to bring him back to his senses, because I don't see them winning this one if she doesn't. But let's say she breaks him free and explains things. He might want to seek out Samuel and Belphegor, or just join them against Regnorex for now, which is more likely since he might hold a grudge. Then they are against Regnorex, his vanguard which I expect to be completely loyal, but they are all without grand skills and basically just grind for Salvos to level, and who knows how many remaining Primevals which we know nothing of, but thousand minus 50 Legion leaders, minus 250 or so Death Squad hunters, minus 100 Vanguard, leaves 600. At this point, it's a toss whether those defect or not, but let's say most do, since Regnorex has been leading everybody to death and most of them will see this rebellion as their only hope, plus at this point the rebellion might actually be super strong.

Danijel Turina

Wait whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......

Cha0sniper

Only reason I trust him is cause angelic Premonition hasn’t gone off once

Sivart

He initially seemed arrogant and aloof, but if he checks out, he seems to be a rational player - basically, if a rebellion has no chance of succeeding because it's poorly led, he's going to put it out. So, he went out to see for himself, we don't know how much of the actual fight he watched from above but it's possible that he witnessed the entire last part that took place in the Netherworld, and observed how Salvos, Haec and others cooperatively fight Jofis. He watched Salvos rescue Hartia, Haec inflict a GS blow and so on. Then he came down and interacted with the situation somewhat, and saw how Jofis was the only mad dog there - just growling and trying to kill everyone, while the others seemed scared of him, but the body language is that they rally around Salvos and follow her lead. Nobody did the standard thing for weak alliances - betray Salvos instantly and try to pretend they are on his side. Salvos seemed to be somewhat in shock from both Jofis being unkillable and Manos arriving, which is understandable, but her reactions were defensive - she would let him make the first move, she wouldn't just blindly attack. Also, she must be literally glowing with Divine Essence, GS and all. Also, they didn't do the common thing for bad rulers like Belzu, Jofis and Regnorex - hide behind their troops and let them take the brunt of the impact; instead, they protected the liberati somewhere and the highest-levelled ones went out to face Jofis themselves. All of that shows care for the people, advanced strategic thinking and forethought, and as he took it all in, he decided that this is not a rebellion led by someone half-wild and possibly worse than Regnorex; this is something that might actually work, and considering how Regnorex would end up killing them all eventually, insane as he is, this is the best chance he has.

Danijel Turina

Not lazy. Disconnected.

Danijel Turina

My first impression of Manos was that he was lazy. But it seems he hated Reggie just like everyone else but was just waiting for the opportune moment.

Q-Riff

"She desperately needs a power boost." - I'm afraid that's going to be a problem if they keep defecting. :) On the other hand, she might need powerful reinforcements more than she needs to level, because I still don't see her winning this unless she turns Focalor. He's just too strong, about as strong as Belphegor, and nobody but the Devil can win that one. Also, it would be excellent if she could save all the reasonable people in the kingdom, and not just kill everybody to level like a wild demon. I don't know how reasonable Manos is, but Sicar already showed excellent analytical skills and seems to be calm and collected. I'm worried about the aura of oppressive evil around all of Regnorex's ministers, except Focalor. She will have her work cut out for her, trying to make them a calmer, less cruel people, after 10ky of Regnorex and who knows how long of Jofis, both of whom were terrible kings. The main threat to a stable government would be if people like Manos keep thinking in terms of "I need to level, become Primordial and then take over". The next king/queen must be chosen by plebiscite, instead of the position being taken by power.

Danijel Turina

If he’s not lying, then this guy is so incredibly based

Zuuuuuri

Aliq and Ultis were just victims of their circumstances as far as we know. But Hartia was(/is?) a sicko and he didn't really have this moment of deep regret necessary for a real redemption. So I'm a bit torn what it says about Manos that Hartia's survival convinced him to detect (if he really did).

Dragonmaster_42

Or Folcanor is the mastermind after loosing his mind like Samuel. It would be kind of ironic if Reggie was just a pawn.

Dragonmaster_42

Sicar has a tough choice to make now. Basically, choose Manos over Regnorex, and if Manos is faking it, get fucked. There's going to be some trust issues again, but assuming everything pans out, this will be a serious strategic victory of Salvos' approach over Haec's, because he was opposed to her converting foes to allies, and now this seems to have triggered an avalanche.

Danijel Turina

I did not see this coming. However, yeah, it's obvious that she needs to recruit a significant percentage of Regnorex's forces, and kill just the psychos and loyalists. But, from what I can see, there's one crucial element she will need to solve. She will need to break Focalor's enslavement curse and bring him back to his senses, and make him an ally against Regnorex. Then I can see a clear path to victory. I also see a way she can do that. [Truth Divination].

Danijel Turina

Melas, you're on a roll! So many chapters! I love it!I And man, what a surprise! I thought at least the top generals don't join the rebellion but are either loyal or narcists. Although it might have been better to let Salvos try and kill him for a while longer... The next chapter will show if it's just a minor disadvantage or if it completely screwed Salvos over. She desperately needs a power boost. And she needs to take a moment to process the fight. (1) She absolutely needs a hint about how Jofis un-corrupted himself! (2) Something relating to her skills must come off this fight given how much she struggled AND given that Jofis showed her a few potential futures of her skills!

Dragonmaster_42

Yes, if this is not a trap. She needs to check if serious.

Danijel Turina

It's actually a good thing, because let's put things on paper here. There are 1000 Primevals under Regnorex, plus one Primordial, of those Primevals half a dozen are 190+. To this, let's say there are at least 100 Archdemons per each Primeval, basically a huge army. If all of those are loyal, she'd have an incredibly hard uphill battle and only *then* would she face Regnorex, who is probably lvl 215 or something. I don't see how that's winnable. However, this is a perfect storm for a rebellion. Regnorex just sacrificed his most loyal zealots on a failed scheme to get him and his vanguard into the Mortal Realm. Now he's planning a demon holocaust, again in his harebrained scheme. It's perfectly obvious that he'll eventually kill them all, and most of them would either run or rebel if there was an actual chance of it succeeding. Now, there's suddenly a rebellion, it's led by the person who already successfully defeated Regnorex and foiled his plan, and she's being joined by real talent. Yeah, I can see how one would see this as being preferable to just waiting their turn to be sacrificed by Regnorex.

Danijel Turina

The reason will be important, cause for now it is a little bit too easy. For a second there might have been a fight when Jofis was killed.

Użytkownik Przeciętny

She better use [Truth Divination] on this one, because he might just be trying to ferret out all the traitors in the kingdom. But realistically, Regnorex is such a terrible person, he can inspire loyalty only in total psychos and fools. It is perfectly clear that he sacrifices demons to no end, with absolute disregard for their lives, when most would prefer minding their own business and surviving. Since he gives them the options to either die or be a slave, most prefer being a slave until they can either escape or depose him. Even Jofis considered joining the rebellion but he was too much of a psycho - he would prefer to just kill everybody to level and then kill Regnorex and Focalor. Now would be a great time for a timeout - [The World Of My Mind], move out of Netherworld, [Truth Divination], establish motives, goals and loyalties. Also, they are in Regnorex's domain, and I'm sure he can become aware of what they are planning if he sets his mind to it.

Danijel Turina

Chances of success have increased exponential.

Rd Zg

Much like the waistline of an aging taste tester of Doritos, THE PLOT THICKENS. I did not see that coming. Well played!

Matt Cannon

“...what?” - yes.

Danijel Turina

People can't stop betraying Regnorex, either planning to or actively are. Goddamn it says something about the guy who dethroned Jofis is going down almost the same way as him. 💀

Ihaxlikenoob

Gotta love when you get blindsided by something that actually seems logical! Great chapter!

WingedIkaros

That caught me by surprise, cause the whole time I was reading, I was thinking come on salvos move take the others with u, oh and damn are any of regnorex top generals loyal

Sivart

Ok that is interesting!

Manlor

lol I’m dying 😂

Lazy Monster

kill stealer!

Syf0

Manos the Executioner shows up, kill steals Jofis the Winged Horror, and then says he's defecting refusing to elaborate further. W based. Chad.

Azrie

Manos has joined the party?

Tim

Oh I see, he didn't know that they had Hartia on their side, but now that he sees a way to escape the collar and recruit more demons from Regnorex he is making his move. Guess he never like the Demon King, or at least not what he has become

John Ebbers

wait what?

John Ebbers

Lmao Manos is hilarious 😂 Tftc
