No Videos? - Update February 2020

Hey everybody!

Because there were no uploads since December, some of you were a bit worried. But everything is fine :) Since I dropped the pressure to deliver weekly videos, I have fallen out of the rhythm creating them; combined with some lack of motivation, I didn't feel super excited working on it more.

I actually have edited the second part of the VLOG from the trip to London (Bug Hunters, Google CTF, ...) a while ago, but I don't want to publish it, because I don't want people to think that the channel is now only VLOGs and casual stuff. But I guess I can share it with you on Patreon for now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3aE_0PyB74

There is a second video that should come very soon in collaboration with Google again, and that is more technical and I think very interesting.

Some of you also noticed that I disabled the subscriber count on YouTube. I think it's a meaningless number and I don't want to see it all the time. (It's at 432.000 in case you really need to know.)

So I wanted to say that I'm all good! :) I'm just focusing on work and other stuff (eg. I played a lot with the Unity game engine). I also have a lot of different video ideas and concepts floating around in my head, but nothing grabbed me yet.

But not gonna lie, I'm a bit demoralised too. I'm thinking a lot about the time investment for LiveOverflow, and I struggle with how I should balance time between my actual work and this. Basically I wonder if I should keep YT casual as it has been the past few months, or if I should put again more time into it - but then see it more as a job and improve monetisation (like selling a course, or change Patreon to a monthly membership model with dedicated videos and/or training challenges). But it feels like I would be compromising my principles of free education, and that is what demoralises me. These are thoughts that have been annoying me for over 1-2 years now and keep growing :/ Seems a bit weird to whine about this on Patreon, where there are people who actually want to support free content :D but got no better place to share this. Sorry :S

Aaaanyway, thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great week!
