I often forget what you guys can see, as opposed to myself. For example, there’s not really an upload that shows Susan topless, without a pose or squish to take away from being able to see the sheer size. I however... see that all the time whenever I load up her file. The second version of character sheets were a way to solve that. But… as I was making them however, it didn’t quite feel right. Like it was missing something.
At the time I was also discussing with my friend, to potentially take it to Flash. The same way I’ve done with the Turnarounds and that mini-VN (so it could go straight onto dA). Include the Turnarounds for each character. That thought stuck around for a while, but I never really acted upon it. Mostly because UI in Flash is bothersome to make, especially to prototype on.
So then I turned to Unity, a free-to-use game engine. It is a platform I have plenty of experience with due to college and my internship that just ended. I thought ‘perfect, all I have to do is find a way to have the Turnaround videos in Unity!’ And old oblivious me looked for a way, which he did. But then it dawned on me...
“I can just use the models themselves… Of course!”
After slapping myself for being so dense, I got to work. And as you already can see from the preview image above, I’ve got it to work pretty nicely! Currently only Susan, Emi, Aya and Manon are implemented. Mostly because their character sheets were already done and I could copy that (along with the details) relatively easy.
Currently I'm developing it for mobile use, but I have plans to make it run on browsers later on as well. Other plans is to include the ability to select different lighting setups, squash out all the bugs and include more characters. But if you guys would like to try it out already (on your Android devices), here's a link to the .apk!
I've only been able to test on my own phone, so any crazy aspect ratios (or tablets) might not work very well. It is still heavy in development, with quite a few inconsistencies regarding models and bugs!
In any case, I’ll leave a link to the .apk for anyone with an Android phone to try out for themselves. I’ll do a web/PC build sometime later as well.
