A whole new world

Hello friends

I hope you have all had a great weekend. I just wanted to share an idea that came to me as I was writing the background short to David's comment regarding the Cursed City of Heldenheim. Well, it was an idea that I've had for a while but it has only come in focus today.

Having the fear of infringing on someone else IP I now feel it's time to develop our own world. Based on historic architecture and cultures it would give us a chance to create fantasy terrain that could be used for RPG, skirmish games, or even big rank and file battles. I would really like to take the fantasy side of this Patreon in a specific direction.

I had a really fun time writing the backstory to Heldenheim, enough to think that maybe it is time to direct my efforts to create a new world. One where you, the community, my patrons will be able to have a hand in developing. 

Heldenheim for example would be an example of a typical city in Franka. The City of Corsairs would obviously be part of the Emirates of Barbary. Arkenfel could fit in with Castilia. The Hidden Forest set would be Forests of the Aerin, with the Palace belonging in the lands of Yavanna. I have named the elves of this world "Aerin" but you can still call them elves of course! Anglesland in my mind would be like the London you might see in Van Helsing. A very young steampunk-esque city but still strongly rooted in superstition and the past not having fully come out of the medieval period yet. There are still places on the map for other races like dwarves and giants. 

I understand this has been done many times over, but my hopes are that we can create fantasy terrain inspired by real-world historic architecture without needing to step on anyone's toes. The idea is to develop each region to be recognizable with what you would imagine. I have begun a Pinterest folder  https://pin.it/56A39kS for the ideas I have for a couple of regions already. 

Anyway, that's my mad ramblings for the week. Please let me know what you think. Of course, you would still be able to vote for the theme that you want; Cyberpunk/sci fi or fantasy or modern. I just wanted to have some direction for the fantasy stuff. Have a good look at the map/pinterest link, hopefully, you'll be able to find stuff suited for your games whether it be LotR, Warhammer, Infinity, etc. Please feel free to add images or folders to match the region on the map.

Argh, it's late this might not make sense when I read it back in the morning! I'll try to clear up my ramblings in the morning!
