OPINION ON FEY'S CHANGING DESIGN AND WHAT TO DO?

WARNING: SKIP TO THE SECOND PARAGRAPH LINE IF YOU WANT TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE QUESTION. While her core design remains, I'm sure a lot of you have noticed over the year of development I have drawn Fey differently on different scenes. To be honest she is my first nsfw character ever, and thus I've experimented with her quite a bit. I have plans for her and the other characters on a second game, so I've been trying to draw her better and more fitting to my evolving skills and her personality. I think representating a character in different ways is fine, but I'm wondering if I've done it a bit too much.
---Should I take a few months (not much, about 4 months, 5 top) to redo as much of her art as I can so it fits my now improved and more skilled pixel art level or should I just continue like I have and don't worry about the older art?
Keep in mind that if i do the second option, I'll most likely continue to draw her with slightly different proportions from time to time. Not only that, once the game is finished I don't think I'll go back to redo all her art, I'll be too excited to make progress on the second game. So if I want to do this, it would have to be now.

True, true. I've been thinking of at least redoing her portraits. But that's like 16-20 hours of work each. And the most I dedicate to this game on a day is 6 hours. In average 3 hours per day. Another option would be doing it slowly as I make progress on each update so it doesn't feel like such a long hiatus for you guys, but it'd take an eternity until all I want replaced is replaced, like 10 months instead of 5. We'll see.

I just don't like much how the older art doesn't represent my current skill level anymore. But it is true that in another year or so I could feel the same I feel of my current level. Good point.

For one thing, in a year or two you might feel the same way about the work you are doing now-- you'll always be improving. That being said, if having art that you don't like makes working on the game an unpleasant chore, then do what you need to do to stay interested in your own project.

2022-05-01 20:27:13 +0000 UTCWhile I can completely understand why people would prefer her staying the same. Just as you would be excited to work on your 2nd game I am also filled with anticipation om how your art grows and evolves. With that being said that's why I voted for taking the extra time to change her because I believe not only you as an artist deserves to be challenged and be given room to grow and expand but us as customers and supporters deserve to have a chance to see the best you can do.
