Big sister

Retweeting this piece under recent events, I realized I never actually shared it here. One of the things I consider the biggest fuckups of the opening issue of SF was how I failed to portray how big some of the characters are. In the setup I have, it's Norbert who seems abnormally short and pudgy in the company of normal people, while he's actually pretty average size surrounded by two tanks and a totem pole. It's one of the things I very much seek to remedy before this goes to print.

Sara from SF is one of my favorite things to create when I need to unwind. A) giant cat with paladin vibe, B) family history full of plot bunnies, C) have I mentioned a giant cat (also D), a potential hybrid kid tagging along). As a result, her family clan has quite a detailed story that I definitely won't delve into during the main SF run, but hey, when I'm old and dull in the teeth, I have spin-off material about how workplace romances lead to ligers.

Long story short, Sara has a step brother, who's a full-on lion (and therefore ridiculously scrawny compared to her). He's actually quite a normal kid (which means that, just like anyone, he can be quite a douchebag) who's had the dream family life Sara kind of never got, so whenever he steps over what she sees as a boundary, he has a lot of pent-up spite coming his way. Especially since he tends to speak faster than his brain will carry him and sometimes makes pretty dumb jokes. And Sara in blind justice(tm) mode is not something you want on your hands (I also find it funny that this is the reason some people consider her to be my self-insert because "oh this is totally something Changer would wanna do", while I see this as the biggest disconnect between myself and the character and consider her to be in the wrong in this regard x)).

Contrasting to her relationship with David as a blood relative, Sara also gets a family of choice in Colby, when she steps up to be something of her big sister. The kid can play her like a fiddle.

So yes, I should definitely draw more Sara. Especially since the first book has mostly an otter / mouflon spree.

P.S.: And as a sidenote, I'm still amazed how many experts pop up to say someone can't be muscular in post-apocalypse due to hormones and diet and stuff, yet nobody seems to care that according to the game, you can get from zero to visibly 5 months pregnant in like... 3 weeks. But I digress...
