Some random cats

So, that could have gone better.

I wanted to dive headfirst into warmup sketching and planned to use FebROARy as a springboard. Wellp, talk about springing too hard, because before the first Feb week was up, I went nose-down due to my spine tableflipping the rest of the body and storming out of the place, presumably being sick over me taking it for granted... Considering I couldn't sit straight for longer than a few minutes, let alone sit upright enough to reach the tablet, most of my days dissolved into angrily writing, angrily thinking about taping a rake handle to my back or angrily clutching a game controller and dying in Crash 4 at very odd times due to random pain spikes.

Neither of which makes for particularly entertaining patron posts, unless you're in for some schadenfreude. But I can at least share those I finished before my back went under. There were five or six sketches total, but I only exported these two and I can't find the original file. It's bound to be somewhere, so this post is likely to randomly update at some later point.

1. Mythological creature
Sekhmet, old Egyptian goddess of war, destruction and healing, protector of pharaohs during times of war. Associated with desert heat. Famously tricked into drinking alcohol disguised as blood to become docile and merry.

2. Curiosity
I originally wanted to go full on with a siamese-twin-type chimera, but then local science journalist Daniel Stach received a well-earned prize for his work. He conducts hour-long interviews with all kinds of science personalities, explains and popularizes science and has a curiosity and thirst for knowledge that's not only contagious, but also admirably honest and inspiring. During the worst of this pandemic, he continually, patiently explains to the public what politicians and medical professionals are unable to get across. He also has a cat he adores (And it's oddly difficult to find references for said cat). Plenty of interviews are hosted in English, so hop on if you want to listen to something interesting while you work.

I've followed the HPC team's work for years, but it's now somehow even more reassuring. And it taught me that somewhere in the myriad of alternate universes, there may very well be one where Hyde Park Civilization is hosted by Mr. Rozarka.
