Announcing Patron Streams

So, you guys want me to make more comics. All fine and dandy, except they take a heck of a long time (especially since I moved to a scene-by-scene/chapter-by-chapter scenario instead of page-by-page) and during all that time of waiting, you probably accumulate questions. Questions like: "Am I secretly sponsoring a dead guy?", "Did you elope to Tunguska to live off crater moss and only send updates through the services of a very enthusiastic snail?", "Will we ever see another comic from you?"

Those are all very fair questions. (Except maybe the snail. His lack of enthusiasm is concerning.)

The answer to them? Find a way to stream again, even with the "no showing comic pages when they're not done unless it's to the Patron crowd".

Since I am slowly growing back into my former ability to handle people (or at least people-shaped objects in virtual space), I would like to invite you back into my art kitchen so you can sample the flavors, get early sneak peeks to various in-progress comics, lick all the spoons...

I should probably not make horrible analogies before breakfast.

To participate, you will need two things: a Discord account and Patron privileges.

You can join the server here: https://discord.gg/bKbMtpR9Fj

The streams will be taking place on Discord for now (I am thinking of moving to somewhere more available for non-users, but for now is is the path of least resistance), and you need Patron permissions in order to join – so if you're newly initiated, make sure to pick your roles in the appropriate channel and, unless I catch you at the door myself, apply for the Patron role.

Each stream will be at least 2-3 hours long and the announcement post will always cover the topic and possible spoilers.

The way it works is simple: you hop on Discord, check the events channel for an event. If there's one Live, you scroll to the Patron Vault section. Click on Live, then Watch stream and you're all set.

Voice chat is not required (allowed for now, but that may change), and you can still chat in a provided thread. You can also just completely deafen yourself to avoid random noises from other participants, as I will be using the written chat to communicate as well.

These streams are intended as a bit of a hangout, so things may not be as polished as they would be in a full stream setup (no music for example), but in turn offering a bit more of a backstage peek. If you ever wanted to see a truly terrifying layer arrangement, you certainly won't get that chance during a public stream.

(Some of them go even higher...)

My starting goal is to make two of these per month, with one slot being taken by charr comics and the other by my own. I'll keep it to the weekends for now, and I'll alternate between timeslots to accommodate various timezones you all might find yourselves in. I will always try to have the next stream announced via the Events channel.

If you cannot or would not participate, rest assured you are not missing out on a critical feature. There will be no stream-exclusive material that will not be shown elsewhere and every comic page will eventually make it here to be publicly available. This test is meant as a bit of a compromise for the good folks who sponsor this whole venture to see what their coin is helping to make while it's being made if they're curious.

As for non-patron streams, I fully intend to go back to those sometime next year once I see what my life will be like after the stitches heal. You may notice the setup is somewhat similar to my original streaming plans – and for a good reason. There is an intended overlap and I still want to stream publicly what I can (so paintings are still a go on Picarto, provided I remember the password).  I don't, however, expect that to happen until at some point in late February or early March.

Alright, I think I covered everything I wanted to share here. If you've thoughts or feedback you would like to make known, please, don't hesitate to do so.  And you're all cordially invited for the first test run tomorrow, on Sunday 7th 9PM CET (early afternoon-ish if you're America-bound; the event feature will tell you when exactly that is on your personal timeline).

And in case I won't see you there, I'll come to bother you soon with another Burrow update. Thank you and stay safe.
