American Foods in Australia

On the podcast's Patreon live today I shared the bemusement of coming across an "American Food Store" in downtown Melbourne, Australia on the weekend. I cannot say I was proud. For those 'Mericans here in the Patreon, see any favorites? I mean I'll never say no to Takis lol.

We are doomed as a nation! Although, I do always put Fruity Pebbles on my Pinkberry or tart frozen yogurt so I'll just be quiet.

Monica

I have actually eaten every one of these cereals as a kid and even fed them to my kids๐Ÿ˜ฌ. But honestly I have no idea what Takis is and donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever seen them in New England.

Of all these diabetes inducing choices I think I'd have to go with Oreos. But wow, I thought the British section was actually kind of good. I guess we have some work to do on our foodways in America ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Alice

Pretty depressing to think that Australia defines us by these kinds of choices. Then again, maybe theyโ€™re right. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Claudia Copeland

Wow! Arenโ€™t we a healthy country. Whereโ€™s the boxed Mac and cheese?๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Daisy

I've only traveled to a handful of countries but none of them came close to the US on cereal selection. And that does my heart good. I mean, sad for everyone else, but glad to spread the breakfast wealth.

So America=Cereal?๐Ÿ˜‚ But definitely the Cactus Cooler, although i am appalled that they have the absolute worst root beer there to represent. No Barqs or A&W????

Jules

Also...and I just realized this...there is Faygo pop on the top shelf. The pride of Detroit and the soda of my youth LOL.
