January 2021 Wrap-Up
Added 2021-01-31 14:54:12 +0000 UTCThis Patreon page had its first birthday a few weeks ago. It's great to see how it developed over just one year and I'm very grateful for your contributions and making this platform possible.
I changed a few things behind the scenes. I was observing a few people joining the Patreon, accessing all the material and cancelling their membership again before the first payment cycle happened. As this was a continuous issue over the last few months, I decided to change the payment so that it charges the first time when you become a patron and then again on the next 1st of each month.
Patreon seems to be installing a new payment system in the future that charges you the same recurring day of the month when you joined. For now however we're stuck with the unfair model that punishes people who joined relatively late in the month. So if you joined on or after the 20th of January, feel free to contact me and I will refund the payment from February 1st.
However, there is also an upside of this new model which is a yearly membership which comes at a 5% discount for all tiers. So if you feel like long term supporting this patreon, it might be worth looking at these new models. This will also come in handy for future Orchestra Discovery Sessions for people who want to join in on the last moment.
Speaking of, as you might have noticed, I announced the five winners for the first Orchestra Discovery Session last week and am really looking forward to getting this rolling once we can predict how this pandemic is behaving.
We gained a lot of new patrons this month which is really great so it seems like introducing the composition screencasts has created a considerable boost.
If you want to tell your friends and colleagues about it, you can also use this little teaser for the composition screencasts:

I have started working already on a new piece where I will implement all the great feedback I got from you guys to make these videos even more valuable. Once the current piece "Returning Home" reaches the point where I take it to mockup, I will start posting videos from the new piece as I don't want to focus several weeks only on technical mockup stuff but alternate back and forth between the composition process on one piece and the mockup process on another.
The poll we did a few weeks ago was very informative and gave me a good idea about what content you people like most and what content is less popular. E.g. I had the impression that posting multitrack recordings with all mic signals might be one of the top contents but interestingly isn't that popular after all.
So, it's great to see where the priorities are so I can adjust the content accordingly. I will do my best to provide more quality content and get a bit more routined in doing composition screencasts so explaining things doesn't break my train of thought all the time.
Thanks again for supporting my Patreon. I really appreciate your contribution.
Stay healthy!
