Hallo to Claudia and the Fraugen! Got the news today that my advisor is <i>finally</i> buying us a new chiller for the lab. This, sadly, doesn't mean we're retiring any defunct ones; we're only adding on, and in fact he's still doing it "wrong" by buying an underpowered chiller and assuming it'll be fine if he throws a heat exchanger on the warm-water return line from the equipment. This drives me absolutely nuts, but you can't spend money you don't have, I suppose. We'll see how it turns out. In the meantime, I've got to start prepping a poster presentation for a graduate research symposium at my university. This is, of course, a gigantic waste of my time, as the symposium is largely populated with humanities and social-sciences grad students—y'know, the ones who actually care about making the university look good. But the organizers put out a direct email to the scientific advisors pleading for "high-quality research" presentations, and my advisor was on the receiving end of it. <i>He</i> thinks this is a simple case of correcting a couple figures off my last poster and sending it to print. What he forgets is that my audience is now entirely different and if I'm a smart and responsible poster presenter, I'll tailor it to them instead of to my own ego. So I don't get to use big words or assume that my audience knows what a cross product is. Yikes. At least my research is at a standstill...again... And now, this: <b>Plushies or porcelain?</b> — I prefer stuffed animals to dolls, especially the ones with minky polyester "fur." Better to cuddle. <b>AM or PM?</b> — Night is when I'm allowed to sleep, so I like night. <b>Books or exhibits?</b> — Ohhh, this one's hard. I guess the museum edges the library, but only just. And really it's because the museum is more fun to visit, whereas the library is more utilitarian for me. <b>Romance languages</b> — I prefer Spanish over French because I can actually spell in Spanish. French has too many extra letters for me to keep track of. :V <b>Live or canned?</b> — I go to the movies more often, but I do like a good stage show, too. <b>Sing-along or move-along?</b> — I prefer to dance. I'm not a trained singer, and it's harder to forgive a bad singer than a bad dancer. <b>Tulips or trunks?</b> — I guess I prefer trees overall. Sometimes, trees even come with flowers. <b>How retro can you go?</b> — I prefer 80's music. Despite my proclivity for dance, I'm not much for the sock-hop style. <b>Round or square?</b> — Hehehe, all I can think of is Merlin and Arthur at the end of <i>The Sword in the Stone</i>... "Yes—King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table." "Round table?" "Oh—would you prefer a square one?" "Oh, no—round'll be fine!" But rather like the builders of Camelot, I prefer circles. They're so nice mathematically and visually.

Well, I’m currently in Vienna on vacation and let me tell you spring has not come to Vienna, it is cold and rainy here and I haven’t seen the sun in two days 😂 it’s 34 degrees here and it makes me want to curl up into a ball and stay inside all day instead of sightseeing like I should be doing

Congrats on the draw ladies! Spring has sprung in California, there's still snow on the Sierras, but the wild flowers are a bloomin'. We're supposed to get up to the 80's by the end of the week. I'm gonna head up the hill and visit Yosemite this week, I hear the falls are raging so I'm bound to get wet. Hope all ya'll are having a great week!

I agree with the Ohio ladies, some days it feels like spring, other days it's back to winter.

I'm going to say is spring only because it was warm enough to rain overnight last night. And it looks like the snowbanks are receding a bit. Of course we're still only 5° above freezing at best, so it's entirely possible we'll be covered in ice tonight. But I'll take the brief warm weather while I've got it!

Arizona doesn't know what the heck is goin' on... usually it's much, much warmer by now, but it's still been downright chilly lately... long, drawnout winters always make me nervous because they usually precede a really brutal summer 😞... BUT my tiny little porch garden of tomatoes, jalapeños, and some kinda flowers I don't know the names of is still alive and the citrus groves are in bloom so the evening air is filled with the delicious scent of orange blossoms 🧡😁🧡... the birds are also building a small city in the eves of by roof, but as long as they stay away from my plants - we be cool... 🐦😒🌱... 😊

Spring is most definitely springing here! Warm enough to not need a coat or even a jacket yesterday and gentle warm showers today. Buds all over the trees, flowers popping up everywhere, the geese are back and the birds are singing. It's all very exciting!
