Added 2020-12-29 13:49:24 +0000 UTC香港發現殖民時代百年歷史的羅馬式地下蓄水池，未知能否在「新香港」保存下去，但古羅馬帝國的榮光，不說不知，其實也是香港身份認同的重要組成部份。大英帝國在不同殖民地，都建有仿希羅文明的新古典主義建築，包括香港的舊最高法院，除了是美學元素，也暗示大英承繼羅馬帝國的empire道統。這次主教山地下蓄水池的發現，令人想到東羅馬帝國查士丁尼大帝在君士坦丁堡建造的地下水宮，都是基礎建設的鬼斧神工。香港石鼓洲戒毒所更有一座羅馬式泳池，風格一如建造者的英國祖家Bath的古羅馬浴場，而Bath與香港息息相關，因為保守黨重量級人物彭定康正是輸掉Bath選區議席，才被委任為末代港督。香港從來都是國際城市，豈能妄自菲薄？

I am trying to be not cynical here. :) 其實個天响呢個時候俾香港人發現呢個咁堅嘅遺產，真係幫到真香港人打氣。Now, let's don't put high hope on whether the reservoir will stay. As long as 旅發局嗰班講唔正廣東話嘅廢柴 stay silence , i really don't think the historical site will get proper protection. I hope HK media , instead of targeting the 古跡 department, they should target 旅發局。with this historical site, Hong Kong could finally reclaim the interest from tourist from all over the world, not just 食玩買大陸客。a massive transformation of HK tourism.
