Hello folks!
Sorry for the delay, had a tough month and I'm moving to a new home. (Ah the stress of packing. )
Anyhow let me share with you some behind the scenes.
New tool
First off, I started to work on my own tools. Minle, my head programmer had made tools for the team so we can create content faster. However, I've been having problems trying to edit those tools without their help. So on top of assigning tasks for the new team members, I sat down and focused on learning how to make my own tools.
And I had my first breakthrough on that and made my first tool!
The blind wolf writing tool! I've been having trouble on setting up the visual novel to work for the next chapter of EOK. We are finishing up the story and we basically have about 5 chapters we want to do. The amount of conversations we needed for this writing would take all my time with the current system. This system was one I had gotten from an asset store when I first started creating this game. I thought it would be fitting that the first asset I used would be the first thing I update with my tool.
We also had a bottle neck with our writer. They arent a coder and I would have to use dev time just to copy and past her writing into the game. At first, this was fine for new monsters or story but now that we need a lot more text on the screen, that a tool was needed.
This new tool will now take her writing and using a set pattern that I set up, she can use key words to set up the scene with only text then I can have chika, upload her file into the game. My tool will take that file and turn it into many scenes without having to spend time setting up each one.
It's a system that will save me a lot of time and I can use this tool for future games. Right now the tool is rather rough and missing a few other systems. But it works! I'll spend an extra day or two to clean it up for use and make sure it doesn't break any other system. Right now, I'm testing this on Witchy Dare game first since I also needed to create a bunch of scenes for that game.
Art
Well thanks for taking the time to read my game dev insight. Here is this month's sexy art. We have a scene for our favorite druid. She found out that the forest is different in the new world, no longer the same home she is used to.
