I agree with you. It should probably be a link somewhere on the front page that will lead users who are interested to their more thorough threat model page. It's unrealistic to expect to have all the important info revealed at once.

2024-08-06 17:58:31 +0000 UTCYour Interview/Discussion podcasts are always amazing, really interesting to get to know the creators behind some of the best privacy apps and services. I subscribed to ente 6 months ago and really love it. The user experience and UI is one of the best among all the Open source Projects I know. The only thing I disagree on is that ente.io should put info on threat modeling directly on their front page. I think that would be a big mistake, scaring non tech Savy users away. Regardless of it's limitations, ente is infinitely better than what most people use (like Google photos). When you open their website it is quite welcoming, it doesn't seem geared towards ultra high security needs at all. I think it is activists own responsibility to take care of their data and not entes responibility. And those who really need extreme privacy on anonymity will not even think about using a cloud service anyways. And I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't be looking for something like ente and then misguided by their claims.
