Monster Breeder

Here's a game I wrote over the last two weeks!

The object is to collect monsters, breed them together, and sell the new breeds you create.

Anyway, I'll make it public soon, but I hope you patrons can have some fun with it on this fine Superbowl.

I've tested it on up to date versions of desktop Chrome and Firefox, and Android Chrome. Music on mobile might be iffy... Feel free to report back with feedback or any problems you encounter!

oh no! I'm getting a 404, is it down?

June

Uh, this is awesome

Garrison Dinsmore

Will you make the music available so I can listen to it while playing on mobile?

Matthieu Loose

A slight grammatical error pops up sometimes: e.g. "Customer: Wow! An One Headlight sounds great!". Apart from that, no bugs. It's fun and addictive.

wolf sharkman should have been named finn wolfhard

mobius

Madness

dryeraser

Are you going to put the music up for download?

Jonah Boan

I will change it. I'm sorry

Neil Cicierega

I'm sad that the ANACONDA and XENOMORPH do not create an ANIMORPH.

Riley Johnson

This game is so addictive, I really love the names the crossbreeds have!

Eric Crozier

i saved up for a license because i'm a good boy

Christine Medico

if you sell the right monster the first time the text box waits for them to talk before letting you continue

Anthony Lombard III

Really enjoying it. My only complaint so far is it's super easy to pass over a monster when moving around. Maybe you could make it so you have to double tap a movement key if a blue dialog box is present?

Tach0012

This is a wonderful game!! My only quibbles are that a) "irresistible" is misspelled in the text when you buy the pheromones and "cemetery" is misspelled in the graveyard, and b) I have spent a lot of time in the graveyard and still have not encountered a RYAN.

Riley Johnson

I love this. CLOVERFIELD and GOATEE SUCKER are my favorite monsters. Also, when you enter the high-tech scientific research building in the city and walk off of the exit tile and then walk back onto it, the option to exit disappears!

Cute game! "Hannibal Specter" got me :p Using numpad in the stables doesn't work quite right yet, just as a heads-up

Stephen Skolnick

Looks great so far! One quick and tiny nitpick: in the labyrinth there are "bood splatters" on the walls.

Ben ''reschultzed'' Schultz

Okay, I think I fixed it by adding "touch-action: manipulation" to the buttons. Let me know if it worked!

Neil Cicierega

What do you mean?

Jonah Boan

It's all pretty much from scratch.

Neil Cicierega

Neat! What game engine?

Jonah Boan

Javascript!

Neil Cicierega

Cool! What language did you build this with?

Jonah Boan

Yeah, maybe I should make it clear that you're supposed to operate without a license for basically the whole game

Neil Cicierega

Hm, it should be! I've got user-scalable=no in the meta tag

Neil Cicierega

Also, I haven't bred any monsters yet because the catalog said I need a license, but it seems like breeding is the only way to earn cash, and the player starts with $0. So a little confusing to start?

This is great! On mobile, you should consider disabling zoom... any time I click too quickly twice on the map arrows, it zooms in.
