Release or Not: HTH Unity
Added 2017-12-24 19:04:28 +0000 UTCI realize things have been very slow for the tiers below Alpha Team. The reason for this is because again, Flash is becoming abandonware, and websites are moving away from support, so I've had to focus all my attention on rebuilding HTH in Unity.
Unity is all new to me and I'm learning as I build HTH in that system. Currently there are many aspects of the HTH Unity build that do not work for example:
Known Bugs
- Screen resolution/size does not always stay full screen. Screen resolution does not save between play sessions.
- Main Menu limited to Play & Quit at this time
- Escape menu is NOT working. The only way out in a lot of cases is to Alt+tab
- Game appears to freeze when loading new level data. Levels will load, just takes a few moments.
- Guides Merile and Patty Dialog screen activate but are not functional/ Do not have ability to go back/ must alt tab to quit out
- NPCs Rio and Jeanette bypass dialog screen entirely and load the first option available. Must alt+tab quit.
- Cave entrance is functioning, however exiting the cave warps back to the dock. Minor but can be disorienting.
- Falling off the map is possible if you dive off the edge.
- The occasional floating tree.
Notes:
- The Only interactive characters at this time are Rio and Jeanette.
- The only area that is currently accessible is the Visitor's Center; however, the region is much larger than the Visitor's Center that appears in the flash build. Please keep in mind this is an entire region not just one building. You would also have access to the Sapphire Monument, and the Lagoon.
- At this time the game does not have any actual freezes, just areas where the GUI doesn't show up "locking" the player in a screen with no way out.
- Game Installation is VERY basic at this point. Unzip TestNC zip and run TestNC.exe
- At this time we do not have a patch system implemented, simply delete the previous version and install the latest. Overwriting a previous build will cause errors
Now, given all of that, I am asking Gold members, would you like to have access to the unity build as is, despite ALL of the things listed above that DO NOT work knowing full well that it is unfinished? Or would you rather it wait to release HTH until most of the above problems are fixed?
Let me know in the votes below.

Post for Alpha Team members a released to them first, then they are unlocked for other patrons after a set amount of time.

2017-12-27 23:59:59 +0000 UTCso my problem isnt the acces to the game. my problem is the lack of information being given to us lower tiers. i just felt left out. i will vote on waiting. but would love more info passed on to us lowers is all.

2017-12-27 21:25:25 +0000 UTCIf I can make a suggestion It sucks for us who are in the gold tier waiting for this, but we totally get it. Could you please just update us alil more ont he goings on, maybe show off some more WIP screenshots? We went almost a month without any kind of news but the Alpha team guys were getting screenshots and such....I know theyre alpha and all but since you literally can not update the flash version anymore can you at least let us at the 10$ and up tier see screenshots and keep us in the loop?

2017-12-27 19:46:32 +0000 UTCIt's burns me to wait, I was super bummed years ago when Anne's shower scene was taken out and thrilled when it was supposed to be the last release before unity. Still, worth it. Available new art looks great and i have confidence in Crow make good progress over the next couple months. You take a look at the improvements to art and functionality made over the last year with crapflash, he should be able to make good use of unity once he gets a more thorough knowledge of it.
2017-12-27 05:17:02 +0000 UTCwait with the release till it works stable, makes the surprise bigger and better

2017-12-25 01:16:57 +0000 UTCI'd rather have more characters and ones that work which is mostly why I went with my vote. Some of the bugs like the alt + tab is a little odd but I could get use to it.

2017-12-24 21:18:45 +0000 UTCArguments can be made either way, on one hand it might be nice for some to see something "physical" so they can be reassured that progress is being made. On the other hand releasing as is is less than an ideal showing I'm sure, in regards to interactivity. I'd say wait, as vrraptor said flash is still working. And people can be assured through alpha testers that progress is being made.. good progress even!
