Yes at the end we'll discuss the fallacies of the methodology

When discussing the Stanford Prison Experiment, it is essential to mention Philip Zimbardo's book "The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil." This book delves into the psychological factors that contribute to individuals engaging in immoral or evil behavior, particularly in situations where they are influenced by authority, social dynamics, or situational factors. Drawing upon Zimbardo's renowned Stanford Prison Experiment, the book explores various psychological concepts such as deindividuation, conformity, obedience to authority, and the power of situational influences. It also analyzes historical events, including the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, to illustrate how ordinary individuals can become perpetrators of evil acts under specific conditions. "The Lucifer Effect" has also raised awareness about the importance of understanding situational factors when considering human behavior, challenging the notion that evil actions are solely a result of inherent character flaws. Zimbardo's work explores the dark side of human nature and the powerful role of situational factors in shaping behavior. His analysis rooted in the findings of the Stanford Prison Experiment and other historical case studies has had a profound influence on psychology, ethics, and our understanding of human behavior. Not only does the book provide insights into why good people can commit evil acts but it offers guidance on how to prevent such transformations, making it a vital contribution to both academic and public discourse. More importantly, it serves as a reminder for us not to view individuals through the same lens, particularly our friends or those close to us, in various situations. When we broaden our perspective, take a step back and zoom out to some larger-scale scenarios: the disturbing allegations at the Pik Uk Correctional Institution and, extending further, the heavy-handedness of the National Security Department, it becomes evident that the New HK has effectively become a Stanford-like experiment with all Hong Kongers reluctantly serving as prisoners. The stark differences lie in the fact that abusers—or even executioners—in the city with unchecked power can never be considered "good people" by any measure, regardless of before or after 2019, and there is a lack of someone calling off the downward spiral process of the key foundational advantages.

"the journal American Psychologist has published a thorough debunking of the Stanford Prison Experiment that goes beyond what Blum found in his piece. There’s even more evidence that the “guards” knew the results that Zimbardo wanted to produce, and were trained to meet his goals. It also provides evidence that the conclusions of the experiment were predetermined" https://www.gwern.net/docs/psychology/2019-letexier.pdf

Looking forward to Prof Lee address the fraudulent aspects of this study that has come to light for years, but still overlooked by text book publishers. [The Stanford Prison Experiment was massively influential. We just learned it was a fraud. -- The most famous psychological studies are often wrong, fraudulent, or outdated. Textbooks need to catch up.] (https://www.vox.com/2018/6/13/17449118/stanford-prison-experiment-fraud-psychology-replication)
