A Major Rethink...
Added 2020-02-19 13:34:59 +0000 UTCHey there people, hope all is well for you! I've got some pretty serious changes in store for our Patreon going forward. After doing some pretty intensive research of other reaction channels with Patreon accounts I came to the rather horrifying realisation that even on their Patreon, they don't show the full episodes of the content they are reacting to. Up until yesterday, I hadn't realised this was the case, and thought that they basically just operated in the same way we have been. Instead, they offered full length, time synced reactions, early access to content (some of that Patreon exclusive and polls.
Basically, I've realised the way we are operating at the moment is potentially very dangerous in regards with copyright issues. Up until now there hasn't been a problem, but it may not be that way forever, and the last thing I want is to wake up up to an e-mail from some animation company threatening to sue us for reacting to their content. Fair use and reaction videos is a bit of a legal grey area, but at the end of the day I'd rather not run that risk.
With this in mind, I'll be implementing some rather large changes to our Patreon. From here on out, reactions posted here will be full length, time synced reactions. I'm also going to basically have to purge our content library and replace it with the time synced versions, which is fine, but will take me a little while.
Now some of you are probably wondering what would be the point in staying a Patreon for that $5 dollar tier without the exclusivity? Well, we do have some plans to make that pledge worth your while. First off, you'll get all of our reaction content a week earlier than it's uploaded to Youtube. You'll also get to vote in a poll to help decide on a show to add to our reaction schedule that will be completely exclusive to Patreon, this doesn't even need to be an animated series. Polls will be going up for this soon as I rejig our tiers around a little. We also are looking into expanding into doing more Lets Play content.
So early access, a say over what content we react to, and exclusive access to that content, and of course our community discord. We hope that all sounds worthwhile to you, but totally understand if you wanna dip out. We've got to play it safe, especially as we grow larger and larger.
We also plan to add a brand new tier too, a hangout tier, which will basically be a monthly Google Hangout with myself and Ceni for 2 hours every month, talking garbage no doubt. I still need to work out the logistics of this but I'll hopefully have an update for y'all soon.
Thank you so much for all of your support this far, it is so, so appreciated!!! I hope you all understand why we've had to make this choice, but it'll be better for all of us in the long run!

I really only watch reactions for the reactors reaction anyway. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

At the end of the day, I don't want to run that risk for us. The thought of potentially losing the Patreon and being told we needed to pay up for monetising someone else's content, even though I would argue that it should fall under fair use, is too great a risk for us and was causing me great anxiety every time we posted. This is the safest option for us, but please don't feel I'm holding you hostage for pledging. I expect lots of people to leave off the back of this and if you don't feel it's worth your $5 dollars then feel free to leave.

2020-02-19 17:29:46 +0000 UTCWhile I completely understand why you have decided to do this and I'm going to continue to be a patron I wholeheartedly disagree with the time synced format. This is because while many other channels use that format many others do not and in my opinion fair use while in a grey area should allow and encourage the picture in picture format. On my channel I always do reactions in that way and channels like the flaming shark and raritydash as well as hugzandsam and the renegades on their Patreon do this as well. I love your content so I'm not leaving but I really wanted to tell you my opinion because this is very important to me. Keep up the great work and I want to make sure this does not come across as me being too negative about this hard decision you made. :-) <3
