First HDRI from the new camera is stitched - 24k!

I've just stitched my first HDRI shot with the new camera :)

I'm not sure when I can publish it (the rest of this month is reserved for HDRIs from Sergej and Andreas), but you can find it in the Early Access drive folder right now.

The image above looks a bit boring and overcast, but being there in person was pretty cool. It was on top of a fairly large hill, and the clouds were passing really low making it look quite misty and eerie.

Shortly after I shot this I noticed the clouds around me were getting thicker and thicker, but there was still a gap below the sun on the horizon. I decided to wait a bit to see if the sun would show its face, lighting up all the clouds around me as it set.

Alas the sun was playing hard to get and eventually disappeared altogether, leaving me a bit disappointed that I didn't try and shoot another one when the mist was really thick.

The resolution of this HDRI is 24k (24576x12288), which is just over 300 megapixels. That's more than double the total pixels of my previous maximum resolution with the old camera (16k, 134MP).

Resolution isn't everything of course. It matters, but considering this single image will use 4.5GB of memory during rendering, I doubt many people will actually need so many pixels.

If that image looks a bit boring to you, here's a sneak peek at some other panos that I shot on the same trip that I still need to stitch:

If you're ever wondering what HDRIs are on the way and when to expect them, just take a look at the trello board :)

Wow, your shots look beautiful! They bring a lot of color to my currently grey and boring dungeon of German bureaucracy and tax return. :-)
