Disclaimer: This mod is not intended to poke fun at or diminish anyone currently experiencing or who has experienced homelessness in the past. My aim with any mod like this is to bring more realism into the game which is something that I and many players enjoy. Thank you!

You can find the 'Homeless' trait in CAS under lifestyles. Once you load into the game, your sim's household money will be set to 0.
Begging for money ~ With your homeless sim as your selected/active sim, you can click on them and choose 'Sit on Ground & Beg for Simoleans'. They will sit wherever they are standing, and sims who pass by will give them money.
Trying to get in to a homeless shelter for the night ~ Past 3pm, your sims will be able to call a homeless shelter to see if they have any beds available that night. To do this, click on your homeless sim and under the 'Homelessness' pie menu, you will find the interaction 'Call Homeless Shelter to Ask About Bed for the Night'.
It is not guaranteed that your sim will be able to get a bed. If they are lucky, they will receive a notification saying so. They will then have a new interaction on themselves, under the pie menu, to spend the night in the shelter (which is a rabbithole).
Here, they will gain energy, hunger, bladder and hygiene. The chances of getting a bed are 40%.
Couch Surfing ~ If you can't get into a shelter, there is another option before resorting to sleeping on a public bench. While at a sims house, your sim can ask to couch surf for the night. You can do this by clicking on the other sim and choosing 'Ask to Couch Surf for the Night' under the mod's pie menu. The chances of them agreeing is 30%, however that doubles to 60% if your sim has a high friendship level with them.
Shoes being worn out ~ You have the option to toggle this on or off, by clicking on your homeless sim and toggling it under the mod's pie menu, with the interaction called 'Enable Shoe Degeneration'. Their shoes will degenerate over the course of 9 or 10 days and they will get un uncomfortable moodlet.
When your sims shoes have fully degraded, they can attend a rabbithole called 'Buy New Shoes' which will cost 50 simoleans. This rabbithole can be found by clicking on your sim and navigating to the homeless pie menu.
Always being able to rummage in trash for food ~ Homeless sims will always have the option to rummage for food from the smaller bins and not just the dumpsters.
Money to zero when loading into the game for the first time ~ As soon a you load into the game for the first time (or give the homeless trait via cheats), your sims household funds will be reduced to zero.
