New Lifts & Aqua Blasting Cabinet - Workshop Build: Part 3

Here's something to keep you afloat until I'm back from vacation. :)
We are not wrenching on cars in this one, but hopefully you still find it interesting.

I want to give a huge thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I'm truly grateful for all of you!

Some quick update on project Marbais, the E30. Today insurance examiner came by, looked at the car, took pictures and commented how amazing the condition is... well was.
I have full coverage on the car and should hear back from them soon.

I couldn't leave for two weeks knowing that the car is dead so today I removed damaged parts, checked the timing and the engine fired right up! Thankfully the engine is unharmed.

There is some luck in this after all cause I think the impact happened in the best area of the front end. If it happened a bit to the right, the engine would be pushed back and definitely damaged. If it was a corner, it would take out the strut tower.
But this way, the engine didn't move and the car is still tracking straight. The structure of the car appears intact for now.

The front carrier will definitely need to be replaced which I'm hoping shouldn't be a big deal for an experienced body shop, but I'm unsure whether I'll need to remove the engine for these repairs. Radiator, coolant hoses, fan clutch and alternator as far as the mechanical components go.

I'm looking for a donor car, but man E30s are not cheap and the cheapest ones are all clapped out. So I might simply shop around for parts. I already found supposedly rust-free and original fenders in good condition. Plenty of hoods for sale too.

Anyway, once I come back I'll have at least 2 body shops to come and look at the car and tell me the repair process and go from there.

Once the car is repaired, I have an idea what to do with it for the end of the video. Oh, I'm thinking LSD differential is in order for it too.

Happy holidays everyone!

Happy New Year brother Sreten, sorry about your accident. Perhaps doing a video in Lederhosen will bring good fortune your way.

Dude how awesome! I’m so happy to see the journey, and for all of us to be able to help you in our own way. Shop looks incredible, ready for anything and everything.

Merry Christmas Sreten!

We all love you too, great video on the workshop build. Just look where you are now compared to a year or so ago…. The project Marbais experience will make you stronger, especially when it’s repaired and back on the road. Merry Christmas 🎄

The before / after images of the Aqua Blasting are ASTONISHING!

Have a great holiday and be safe!

That blast cabinet is a game changer. Thanks for everything you've done this year, Sreten. It's been great following your progress, and I'm so happy I chose to support this channel. Have a great Christmas, and we'll all see you in the New Year (if not before).

Nice! The two post lift will be nice as well!

Nice video! Glad I became a patreon! Question: are there any metals not suited for vaporblasting?

I don't know if you do this intentionally but it seems like you drop hints or easter eggs about parts or things for the garage you'll use in the future in videos. I noticed those PVC tiles were in Part 6 of Project Marbais. I thought I saw the two-tone door panels for the E46 touring in the background before you "officially" showed them. Maybe I'm just seeing things 😅

Hi Sreten, Not sure if you know about these two dealers, but they often have parts available thats NLA. Like fenders for instance. http://www.koed.dk and http://www.schmiedmann.dk

Was so so sorry for you in the last video..but glad you are OK most importantly. And great to hear there is life in the old girl yet. Enjoy your well earned holiday

Happy holidays! 🌟 Take it easy.

There's always some fortune in misfortune, awesome news! Can't wait for the resurrection video.

Man, the last video left me deflated, so I can't imagine how you felt, but its testimony to your character that you're straight back into it, top man Sreten, a Merry Christmas to you and yours 👍

Awesome video. I would take into consideration putting the tire changer and wheel balancer up against the right wall near the scissor lift. Have a wonderful vacation.

Love that Project Cologne got to be the very first project on the new lifts!

Love your work Sreten! Good to hear about the better-than-shit outcome for the E30

That's some good news to wake up to.. 👏 Happy holidays from the Land Down Under 🇦🇺

The workshop is looking mighty nice with those lifts, and certainly the results from the aquablast machine were spectacular. That valley pan looks just so damn nice!!! It's reassuring knowing that you didn't suffer any damage, and that the damage to the E30 was at least in a repairable place. Cars have come a long way since the 80's in terms of protection against crashes! Enjoy your vacation, Sreten. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Salva Barbus

Those are awesome freakin news! Many *happy noises* Marbais will live again!!!

Possibly. I didn't touch the brake pedal, but rather tried to correct it and catch it with steering, but to no avail. Rear end on E30 simply has no grip in wet and it's difficult to control.

Lmao +1 to "LSD is in order" 😂 Ya think?

Hi Sreten! Love the video. Love all of this equipment, it’s getting the garage we all dream of! About the e30, you say an LSD should go in. You’re saying that it may have helped you to control the situacion previous to the crash? I’ve just installed an lsd in my e87 130i and the difference is huge. Much more control, much more predictability. But also open diff is theoretically “safer” in slippery situations and low speed. Want to know your thougths on that. Keep the spirit up and the work going!! Cheers from south america!

Good news at last!Enjoy your holidays!

Glad you are ok. Enjoy your time off and look forward to the next video. Bis später!

Tim Grimes

First of all, glad you came out unharmed. Metal can always be fixed :) also glad about the damage being not so serious. Hope you can get her on the road without additional pains/surprises. Wish you happy holidays!

I've really enjoyed the workshop videos! Great news that the E30 is as good as it could be considering the circumstances. Have a great holiday and enjoy your Christmas!

Love the passion for keeping it part of the family. Merry Christmas from Chile

That's great news, enjoy your vacation

>Thankfully the engine is unharmed. NOW that's a Christmas present! Given your description, one could argue that the bumper did it's job ... well ... sorta.
