GOBLIN VAULT - Thoughts on the Ranch

Hello, my lovelies! Here's a little thing I wrote about my thoughts on writing The Monstrous Ranch, in hindsight. I hope you enjoy!

Also, let me know if you'd like to see more "behind-the-scenes" stuff like this up on the Vault in the future!

Thanks so much! It was important to me to talk about it a little bit in this story. It's a big part of how I got engaged with the concept in a more serious sense.

Oh and I definitely enjoy these sorts of posts!

You mention wanting to question traditional ideas about punishment of the “wicked”. As someone who’s pretty deeply skeptical of prisons and punitive justice here on Earth, I found myself wondering early on how to translate that skepticism into the Cloistered Lands. You did a very good job of that! There are lots of writers who would’ve written a setting like the Ranch without even addressing the question of whether it’s a just situation. And one of the things I most appreciate about your writing is that you do grapple with moral questions like those. Thanks.

This is really interesting! Would love to read more about the thought process behind your writing- I see the characters and setting in a new light now.

What Carol J said, lol. I am in awe of your writing abilities... I caiught onto Bobbin when I reread chapter 12 I believe, after Senya had been rescued from Lady Valina by the Puppy Sprites. When Bobbin called Senya “livestock “and herself “boss”. However, you wrote Bobbin masterfully and I wasn’t too sure, lol.

Christ, this is why you're an inspiration. I love stuff like this so much, and I can only aspire to one day be as skilled a writer as you are, both technically, logistically, and artfully.

I really liked this, I hope you do more in the future! Seeing what you were thinking and how the story came together, even I such low resolution, was very interesting :)
