Early Bird: All Aflutter, Ch. 01

In which an inexperienced dopterine Toxin Ranger is granted hospitality by a friendly 'cowgirl'—and finds herself increasingly overwhelmed by the tender affection and pampering Aura gives so very freely. Will she keep her dignity and independence, or will the mothgirl, exhausted from her journey and desperate to be taken care of a little, be seduced into Mommy's lap?

This was a really cute commission, and I had a ton of fun with it—so much that it got stretched into two chapters! I hope you enjoy it!

I also finally got to dig a little into lore for dopterines, as well as one of the fairly neglected regions of Lacra: The Northern Reaches, a desolate badlands of goblin maids, strange chesspiece people, imprisoned demons and cursed grounds. You can see the Reaches placed on the map here!

I literally spent an entire day derailed by working out the geology of the Reaches, by the way. I knew I wanted them to be a badlands, but I struggled with justifying it in such a hot area—the Reaches are sort of placed around northern Mexico in relation to the equator to the north of them, and while winds can create a badlands, I wanted to justify a freezing/thawing cycle as well. I ultimately worked out that in a long-ago ice age, glaciers and cold fronts came down from the Mountains and carved the land up beautifully, and rains and winds since then have only further scarred the area. Nowadays, the Reaches do have a rainy season, but it's shorter than one would think due to unfavorable wind patterns, leading to them generally being a dry, cracked land with frigid nights and scorching days. Not a lot of trade goes on between the Reaches and the rest of the continent, since the Reaches don't produce much, and it's generally easier to take the ocean channels sweeping around to get past the Mountains entirely if you're coming from the north.

As a bit of a heads-up, this story is a little bit more overtly md;lg than my other holstaur stories have been. It's really focused on the feelings of dependence and helplessness more than anything, but, well, if you're not into mommydomme you're not into mommydomme, and that's fine!
