Early Bird: Minding Her Manor, Ch. 01

In which five best friends meet up at a supposedly haunted manor and get caught up flirting and playing with each other a little. After all, they're all alone here, right? Right?

Hello, my lovelies! So, um, that one Bonus Pairing, so long overdue? Here's why. It's another series, and the first chapter is actually a little light on the action. Oops. I'm really excited for this, though. It's got some characters I really enjoy writing, and there's so many options for the series. Hopefully it won't go too long!

What's more, this story marks a return to form in the sense that it's an open-ended "from a hat" series--these five girls could run into anything, really. It's a haunted house! Major "areas" I have in mind for the manor are the greenhouse, the kitchens, the wine cellar, the nursery, the doll room, the dressing room, the bathchamber, the cramped attic, the library, and, of course, the cozy sitting room. Suggestions are welcome!

As a warning, this series may get a little dark, but I promise the potential Bad Ends don't mean these girls are assured a bad ending!

A big regret I have is not using this chapter more to foreshadow those areas I just mentioned. That's a staple of the haunted house genre, and I totally goofed it. There's even multiple scenes where characters explore the place, and I only foreshadowed one room! If I ever rewrite this series, you better believe I'll fix that.

NaNoWriMo has kept me impossibly busy this month--busy enough that the November BP Poll may not make it out until the very last minute. That being said, I'm doing really well with work in general!
