Building Chords - Ch. 3 | Triads with 4's and 6's (Leads)

This is a long video that is not meant to be watched start to finish (although you could do that if you wanted). It is instead meant to be a display of how I work out ideas. Feel free to skip around using the YouTube chapters to the sounds that interest you.

Same as the previous video, except now we are adding in the 4's and 6's to various triad types. I'll be demonstrating some sounds we can gain from adding these notes, as well as explaining a situation that arises when adding in 4's or 6's where the chord can basically turn into a different chord. Something I will refer to as the "Chicken-or-Egg" scenario. Hope you get some cool sounds!

Use YouTube chapters to navigate to the various sounds:

1 - Major triad with 4 and #4
2 - Minor triad with 4 and #4
3 - Major triad with 6 and b6
4 - Minor triad with 6 and b6
5 - Other Triads with 4's and 6's

Major with #4 is anyone else hearing the simpsons theme song πŸ˜†

I don't necessarily gravitate towards it, I just anticipate it because it's really common. Depending on the genre of course. For instance the natural 2 as you are saying is a very common sound in metal, and is often the "main" chord of songs.

It’s interesting that you gravitate towards spicy dominant for Major with b6 I obviously see that too but I ESPECIALLY prefer to see it in reference to Mixo b6 and therefore have a major 2nd The major b6 with major 2nd in the mix sounds incredible in my opinion. A little more mysterious and gets away from the obligatory b2’s in spicy dom
