Beach Look
Added 2023-07-13 20:49:30 +0000 UTCWhenever I try out an app I haven't used before I guess I have to draw Vin. I recently started writing a scene where she was having a lil vacation at the beach so I figured I'd follow suit here.
Done in Artstudio Pro.
I actually kind of like it. Potentially more than Procreate.
I'll reserve my final judgments for when I remember to use the recording feature so I can actually export a time-lapse.

I wouldn't even be so annoyed by the color thing if it wasn't for the fact that they display in their original vibrancy in the navigator panel. But the actual window itself? Haha nope. :|

2023-07-18 21:05:14 +0000 UTCOkay so the washing out thing is not just me. But yeah, I've kinda 'outgrown' procreate within the first three months of having it. Mostly I've been sketching in Auto sketchbook and working paintings between ASP and some others I've been fiddling with.

2023-07-18 19:53:02 +0000 UTCProcreate is... fine? Like if you're just introducing yourself to working on the iPad and you want something cheap and easy, it can't be beat. But once you kind of hit the ceiling with it, it becomes really frustrating. Like I know it should be capable of more, and you can still do so much with it but it feels simultaneously like a toy, or a fenced-in pool inside an already walled garden. Too much proprietary shit. I'm liking ArtStudio Pro because it plays nicely with the iOS/iCloud file structure, it's compatible with ABR/TPL brushes, and it doesn't seem to come with the stupid color quirks that I've been running into trying to export Procreate files to .PSD. I had a huge fuckup with a recent model sheet I did where the colors that were displayed were super washed-out, and it had something to do with the translation between the two formats. It was really annoying. I'm still getting my sea legs with ASP but so far I've felt perfectly comfortable using it to the point where I've just imported all of my commissions into it and I'm continuing to work on them from there.

2023-07-18 19:31:18 +0000 UTCI actually find procreate not all that great to use? Like, the interface actually is very good and intuitive, but the behaviour of the program and how the brushes behave just turn me away and I can't put my finger on why.
