You might seen this work in progress posted the other day. It is mine (Aleksandra) aside project from Indomitus. Figure I just needed to paint to get my motivation back on track. To release that idea from my head. But, of course.. being committed to this community I couldn't miss the chance to take a pictures of some progress. ( I am taking pictures of other details as well for some future tutorial) but thought on sharing some progress on the face painting on this little 28mm head.
1. I primed whole figure in black this time as I wanted everything very dark for the upcoming black armor. But I primed his head in white for the easier painting and color work. :)
2. I under-painted some tones of his face. Red around the cheeks, nose and eyes. Greens around the jaw and blues in deeper shadows. I connected it all with mix of those colors to represent some first initial skin tone.
3. I started blending and highlighting this skin tone by adding white paint in mixes, keeping the tones under-painted visible as much.
4. Started sketching his eyes for the character and I first thought to make them smaller and more menacing, but for the whole face composition and to be able to put the reflection in those tiny eyes I made them a bit bigger and played around with contrast bellow his eyebrows and cheekbones.
5. Added the final highlights to connect it all together and bring all the tones nearer one another. :)
Hope it is fun for you seeing this quick sbs progress on this little head. Enjoy your weekend and thank you for your support!
Yours,
Aleksandra & Marko
