Names of the Manechurian characters
Added 2022-06-15 09:29:24 +0000 UTCAt this point I imagine I'm tiring you guys with these changes, but the truth is that I'm still not satisfied with the 212th princess' name. As more time passes I am more inclined to give her and her brother two-character names, while reserving the one-character names that reference ancient Chinese weapons to the concubines.
Since her mother is Ji pin (Imperial Concubine Polearm) and among the rest of the harem we have names such as Gun gui fei (Noble Consort Staff), Qiang fei (Consort Spear) and Chui pin (Imperial Concubine Mace), it makes more sense to give the names Jian (double-edged straight sword) and Dao (single-edged sword) to concubines as well.
I'm not sure what to call the princess, though. I'm just not satisfied with any of the names I come up with and I'm not sure what theme I want to go with. What I do know is that I want this name change to be final, so it has to feel good.
I briefly thought about calling her 'Princess Plum Blossom' at one point, which would result in Meihua, but immediately decided against it because Chinese or Chinese-inspired female characters who have names with "mei" in them are incredibly common in western media and I want to do something else.
As for the brother, his name will have to start with the same sound as his brothers' names, so I need to carefully deliberate that too.
I apologize for my indecisiveness, but I figure it's better to annoy you one last time than sit here being annoyed at myself. Selfish, I know!
