While Spike regales Rarity with tales about the summer he spent with Dragon Lord Ember and her family, he mentions that Blaze is into fashion. Smolder chimes in that the royal dragoness is a trendsetting fashion icon to the dragons. Of course, this piques Rarity's interest. A fashion icon in the Dragon Lands? Why, she simply must meet her!
Blaze, seeing no harm in the fashionista's request to make her acquaintance, grants Rarity permission to visit her on her private island. As Torch was a monogamous dragon lord and Ember has no consorts yet, Blaze gets to have the paradisiacal retreat all to herself. Rarity begins to get a little jealous of the dragon lord's royal mother before she even lays eyes on her exquisite jewelry. Words escape the unicorn when she sees what must be the grandest collection of fine jewelry in the entire world. It's true that Blaze's collection is extravagant even by dragon standards.
Rarity notices the ring resembling a shield on Blaze's thumb and learns that it is, in fact, a real shield. A pony knight dropped it when he ran away in fear from Torch. The former dragon lord lovingly modified it to gift it to his wife as a decorative claw guard, since she likes to wear multiple rings at once.
Blaze also shows Rarity a collection of glass bottles she blew, containing various fragrances she created while she was gravid with the octuplets. The fragrances no longer suit her, because her natural scent changed after she laid the eggs. Rarity is enthralled and pays a small fortune for one of the bottles. It doesn't dawn on her that it won't fit through her front door until she gets home.
