I watched Ambulance. I cried at the end, why it's all so sad... 😭
They didn't happily go into the sunset, but maybe in another life, somewhere... the brothers will be happy together and Danny will find a reunion with Will, in love and connection that he so desperately needs.
Amazing performance by Jake and Yahya - they put feelings into the characters, into their love for each other, their characters touched the heart, and even though little time was devoted to their relationship (I wanted to see more of their interesting story and disclosure of their relationship), but it's still felt amid intense action and lots of detail.
I remember the interesting moment that the FBI agent is openly gay (there is a small kiss with his husband, a small but sweet detail) and the agent turned out to be a friend of Danny, they went to college together and drank together (means they spent time together, the agent knows Danny very well), so it's possible that Danny could be gay (queer) too, and maybe his strong love for Will could be something else. His deep, insane affection to Will, to the point of a manic obsession, which he struggles inside, but which eventually leads to deplorable situations -destroys his sanity and makes him do crazy things.
Of course, you can look at the film as a stupid blockbuster with a bunch of explosions, brutal manly men with machine guns and a predictable plot, or you can look deeper, more carefully, read between the lines and find something that the actors and creators put in. A thin layer of something more important, ethical, dramatically beautiful and value. This is why I love this movie.
Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) & Danny Sharp (Jake Gyllenhaal) ❤
